I am looking to purchase software that has a minimum requirement of Intel GMA x4500 or better. Is the graphics Intel HD 4400 in a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 more powerful or less?

Thanks for joining the Graphics community.
The GMA X4500 is based on an Intel 4 series chipset that was released on September, 2008. Please check specifications of the graphics controller below:

The HD 4400 is the graphics controller included on newer processor generations.

Allan,
Thanks for that very detailed reply. I've read the sheets you've linked and attempted to understand as much as possible. Based on experience, I would probably say the newer chip would be "better" than the older chip. But I'd only say that if I were comparing oranges to oranges. In your expert opinion, given the comparison is being made for hardware requirements for a piece of software, would you say the newer HD 4400 is "better" than the GMA 4500? Or is it a different type of chip?
Thank you

Thanks for the feedback.
Please bear in mind both controllers are different and newer processors will come with new technologies and you get better performance.
