Sold an Engineering Sample.

I just purchased what I thought was a XEON E5 2637 v3 but it is actually an engineering sample. Now, what do I do? I was told that those were the property of Intel, and are never to be sold. If I try to send it back they will just sell it to some other poor schmuck who thinks they are getting a production CPU.

Hello lifeofgold,

Thank you for joining the Intel(R) Communities Forums.

This is to add information on the reason why the recommendations provided should be followed.

Engineering sample (ES) processors are also known as qualification sample processors. They are pre-production processors Intel loans to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), original device manufacturers (ODMs), and independent software vendors (ISVs) to be used in the product design cycle before product launch.

For that reason, it is recommended to contact us by Phone, chat or web ticket to report this matter.

If further questions come, feel free to contact us back.

Thanks,
