Intel Graphics Driver for Windows 7*/8.1* [15.36] win64_153633.4568.exe causes my monitor to flicker on and off with the error message "display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" and then my computer freezes and I have to restart it via the power button. The process is an endless loop unless I rollback/uninstall the drivers. Without the update, my second monitor cannot be detected and thus I cannot extend my displays. While the second monitor cannot be manually detected through right-clicking the desktop and selecting "Screen Resolution", it still "works" but it merely mirrors what is displayed on the first monitor.

I have even contacted Microsoft about this issue twice, and it seems that nothing can be done. I hoped that they could help due to it being a driver issue that I noticed via Windows Update.

To offer you some background information, I was playing League of Legends four days ago and my computer froze and ultimately crashed with spewed graphics frozen on the screen. Upon restarting my computer, the screen was littered with red artifacts. I updated my drivers, reinstalled Windows, formatted my hard drives, and even reset my BIOS. I was really desperate to fix this. Anyway, I forfeited and I took out the graphics card, a NVIDIA Geforce 780 Ti. It is currently at the post office awaiting its replacement.

Now, I am using my generic onboards graphics from my GIgabyte motherboard.

However, this latest update from Intel is screwing me up. I cannot launch League of Legends due to a "Directx" error and I cannot even launch Toontown Rewritten (nostalgia, anyone?), which is a game from 2003 and obviously very easy for a modern computer to run. I have no idea where to go from here. Sure, I don't expect these onboard graphics to run Ark: Survival Evolved at full settings, but Toontown? Really?

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz 4.00 GHz

Installed memory (RAM): 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)

System type: 64-bit Operating System

Please note that this issue has happened in both Windows 7 Ultimate and in Windows 10.

Hello Chlobug,

I understand latest graphics driver causes the monitor to flicker.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

I would like you to try different version of the graphics driver. please download this driver version which is for Windows 10* https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26229/eng/win64_154028.4501.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26229/eng/win64_154028.4501.zip

As soon as the driver has been downloaded on the keyboard press WinLogo key + r, then type in devmgmt.msc, double click on Display Adapters>>Intel HD Graphics 4600>>Driver tab>>Uninstall>>Select the check box Delete the driver software for this device>>OK, restart the computer, and then reinstall the graphics driver I provided.

Unfortunately this did not solve my issue. It causes WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR blue screens of death and mimics the original issue.

Thank you for the effort though, Stefan and Fred!

Hello Chlobug,

In order to help you better I would like to gather more information about the configuration you have in the computer. Please attach to this thread the .xml file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

Were you able to try the graphics driver version 4621 that was suggested by Stefan3D?

Let me also know if the WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR happens while playing the game or if it happens during driver installation.

To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" on the upper right hand corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear on the bottom right hand corner of the response box.

Regards,

Hello, again!

I tried the graphics version 4621 that Stefan3D suggested. Unfortunately, it did not work for me.

The WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR occurred when I restarted my computer to finish the installation of the drivers suggested. I was merely on the desktop and not in a game.

Here is the file. Thanks!

Hello Chlobug,

Thanks for the additional information you sent to me.

For some reason the computer currently has the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter installed. I would like you to try updating some of the computer drivers in a specific order.

Install this driver first, and then restart the computer http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_chipset_intel_w10.zip http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_chipset_intel_w10.zip

Install this other driver, and then restart the computer one more time http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_intel_me_w10.zip http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Driver/mb_driver_intel_me_w10.zip

Install this other version of the graphics driver, and then restart the computer again https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26229/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-?product=81496 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26229/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-?product=81496

Let me know if issue persists or not.

Dearest Fred,

Thank you for sticking with me through this problem. I followed the directions exactly, ensuring to restart in between installations. At first, this issue caused my computer to shut off with a VIDEO SCHEDULER INTERNAL ERROR. Then, upon rebooting, an error came up saying "A disk read error has occured press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart". The computer looped through this error three times. I held down the "Shift" key so that I could boot Windows 10 into safe mode, but the computer randomly booted to Windows correctly. My second monitor was still unable to be detected. I attempted to launch Toontown Rewritten to see if there were any improvements at all, and I was very pleased to see that the game loaded in. However, about 30 seconds into playing the game, everything froze and my computer crashed with the VIDEO SCHEDULER INTERNAL ERROR. I restarted and my computer shut off two times with the VIDEO SCHEDULER INTERNAL ERROR, despite the fact that I was not loading any games or programs. I just uninstalled the drivers and the software so that my computer can run without the blue screens of death. I cannot load any games or display my second monitor, but I can still use my computer for simple office work and to check this thread.

Where should we go from here? Thank you so much for your time.

Sincerely,

Chloe

Edit: I want to mention that my computer's command prompt appeared when I restarted my computer the final time to completely install the graphics drivers you mentioned. The window said this:

Windows System Assessment Tool

> Running: Feature Enumeration ''

> Run Time 00:00:00.00

> Running: WinSAT Direct3D Assessment '-aname DWM -time 10 -fbc 10 -disp off -normalw 1 -alphaw 2 -width 1280 -height 1024 -winwidth C(1144) -winheight C(915) -rendertotex 6 -rtdelta 3 -nolock'

> Assessing Desktop Graphics Performance

I am not sure what this means. Thanks!

Hello Chlobug,

I am sorry to hear you are still having issues with the computer.

I would like you to try running the following utility, and let me know if the test passes or not https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool

Let me also know if the system is working overclocked or if you are using default settings in BIOS.

The test passed with no issue.

Thanks,

Hello Chlobug,

It looks like the CPU is OK since the test passed.

Since you are having issues with our graphics controller and also with nVidia*graphics card then the issue might be somewhere else. If available try different motherboard and/or power supply.

You can also try contacting Gigabyte* in order to check if they can provide more advanced troubleshooting steps for this issue. This link will give you their contact information http://www.gigabyte.us/Contact http://www.gigabyte.us/Contact
