MP flag question

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the MP flag in the CR0 register. Although the Intel specification manual says that

"For processors that support the MMX instructions, the MP flag should be set."

However I noticed that on my old processor the MP flag is not set but it supports the MMX instructions. Themodel of my processor is Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz. Can someone explain why this is happening?
