Intel HD 4000 HDMI - No Signal problem

Hello,

First of all, my configuration is:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H

CPU: Intel i7 3770K

RAM: 2x4GB Kingston XMP Predator

GPU: Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 670

OS: Windows 8 Pro x64

I connect my 24" monitor to my external GPU via HDMI to HDMI and my Samsung TV to internal Intel HD4000 Graphics via HDMI to HDMI and for more than half year there was no problem and everything was great.

For over a month to the TV it shows "No signal" but the PC recognize the TV and it says that there is no problem. Still there is no picture to the TV.

The problem occurred suddenly without any installation of new software, drivers etc. First I thought it may be from the cable, but when I plug it to the external GPU the TV works. Then I find out that there is an issue with sleeping and wake up to the PC but I disable/enable the device and still no luck. I installed the newest drivers from the Intel web site with no luck at all. Now I installed again the older VGA drivers from Gigabyte site and still have this issue.

Please help because I am out of any ideas.

The bottom line:

PC recognize the TV, "No signal" displayed on TV, TV works when plugged on external GPU HDMI port.

PS: Recently I bought a DP to HDMI cable and the HD4000 don't recognize it. It is connected to the TV through that cable but the TV works and have a signal when it is connected to the DP port of the external GPU.

I attached links to the http://hranilishte.hit.bg/GPU/DxDiag.txt DXDiag and the http://hranilishte.hit.bg/GPU/report.txt Intel control panel report in the .txt files based on last known working configuration (Monitor to external GPU HDMI-HDMI), TV to internal Intel HD4000 (HDMI-HDMI).

The last I've try is DVI to HDMI and there is a signal from HD4000 to TV. What would be the probable reason for stopped working HDMI port (except the cable – tried with 3 different cables) and not working DP port with DP to HDMI cable?

Hi SteerX,

Are you using any software to be capable of using both Graphic controllers? Can you please post here your graphics report?

Hi SteerX,

Based on your description, I recommend you reinstalling the Virtu software. This is because when you connected a discrete graphics card to your computer, the onboard graphics will be disabled unless you have a program that allows the user to use both resources, such in your case with Virtu MVP.

I recommend you also testing the system without the graphics card with single display and let me know the result.

The system has this configuration from the beginning - Discrete graphics card for the monitor and onboard card for TV. Neither of them ware unplugged and no changes to the Virtu MVP were ever made.

Suddenly HD4000 HDMI stop work.

Now the condition is:

HD4000

- HDMI - Recognize the TV but shows "No signal"

- Display port - Doesn't recognize the TV and "No signal" is displayed

- DVI - Recognize the TV and there is a signal (works fine)

Discrete graphics

- HDMI - Works

- Display port - Works

- DVI - Works

*No changes when Virtu MVP is disabled or enabled.

Hi SteerX,

As mentioned before, I recommend you disconnecting the video card from your system and test the onboard graphics only. Also, reinstalling the application can help you with the situation. Sometimes with the installation of new software can interfere in the registry keys of the system causing conflicts.

You can try installing this driver:

Same Problem here. Nothing done: no update, no installation.

Suddenly HDMI does not give a signal. Even not the bios-Splash-Screen.

  • GIGABYTE GA-Z77_DS3H with
  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
  • Running Ubuntu 13.10
  • Connected with two HP LP2065
  • DVI is working properly.

I have been testing a board from my side with HDMI and I have not received any problems during the testing. My recommendation is update the drivers and BIOS. Another good idea is to test different HDMI cable.

Here is the download link for the graphics Controller Intel® HD Graphics 4000:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23405 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23405

If doing these steps issue persist, my recommendation is to contact the computer manufacture for them to check your hardware and assist with a possible replacement.

Hi Kevin,

thank you for your investigations.

In my case the problem occurs direct at start: No driver is involved at that moment.

I updated Bios. No effect.

To use two screens I connected the monitor via analog VGA.

I bought a new HDMI-cable but nothing changed.

Than suddenly: HDMI-Signal returns without anything done.

Strange: Now I have most of the time HDMI but sometimes only VGA, because there is no signal on HDMI.

Does the mainboard has a hardware problem? Is there a Hardware-Test?

Yours

Arne

Hi Arne_Germany,

Since the DVI is working fine and you are having problems with the HDMI and VGA only there are a few steps you can do. At this point you have installed the latest graphics driver but I also recommend you updating the bios in your system and testing a different cables.

I also recommend you contacting the computer manufacture for them to check your system.
