Intel Corporation - Display-Intel(R) HD Graphics update for Gateway NV59C:What are risks of installing?

Microsoft has sent notification of an "Important Update" for my Gateway NV59C laptop ("Display - Intel(R) HD Graphics 19.5 MB, software update released in August,2010 Published: 2/4/2011").

Please inform me as to benefits and risks of installing or not installing this as I am always concerned about risks of making non-essential changes to my computer. Gateway Support advises downloading drivers from manufacturer's site only.

I see that you are inquiring about the risks of installing the Windows* update for the Intel® HD Graphics drier.

In regards to your inquire, these kind of updates are generic versions that may not work correctly on every system.

Intel(R) recommends that you install the drivers provided by your system manufacturer as they are system specific and they are customized to work with your computer.

If you are having an specific problem with the drivers provided by your system manufacturer, you can test using the Intel(R) generic drivers. To download them you can use the following tool:
