ac8260 Extremely slow speed over wifi on a specific network

Hello,

Here's my issue. My wifi works fine everywhere except at the university. It connects just fine, signal is great and everything seems fine for like a minute, but then it becomes painfully slow. Everyone around me are browsing at decent speed while its unusable for me. I talked to the IT guys at school and they said many people with the same wireless cards are experiencing issues on their network.

I tried:

-changing the drivers, old and new. 18.xx 19.xx

-changing the power options in windows

-changing pretty much all the device settings(roaming agressiveness, prefered band, wireless mode, ht etc)

-InSSider shows that everything is fine

Any ideas? How can I diagnose the problem?

Hello Marek,

As we understand, your wireless adapter appears to be working correctly, but is having connectivity issues with the WiFi network of your University. Based on your description, the configuration of the adapter may not be fully compatible with that network. Please make sure you have applied the following:

- Download and install https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26214/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-10?product=86068 Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows® 10 [19.2.0].

- Apply the configuration from the advisory: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking/000005544.html Recommended Settings for 802.11n Connectivity.

- Disable the Bluetooth* component of your system. This is normally done with a hardware switch in the PC chassis, or using a key combination.

If the issue persists, please let us know the following information:

- https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility Download Intel® System Support Utility, connect to the University's network, run the tool and use it to create and save a report with all sections, then add a reply using the Advanced editor options to attach the resulting file to this thread.

- Provide additional information of the network in your University (WLAN standard, Wireless band, etc.).

Regards,

Jonathan
