Intel Graphics Card Question

Hi there! I need help trying to figure out my laptop graphics card situation.

Comp Specs:

Dell Vostro 3500 Laptop

Windows 7 x64 Professional

i3 2.27GHz processor

8GB RAM

250HDD

I'm trying to figure out what Intel HD Graphics Card is inside? It just says Intel HD Graphics and no other distinguishing description, even after I run the dxdiag command. If anyone knows what type of graphics card this might be would be extremely helpful!

I'd like to know whether it's possible to:

1) update the driver to dx11 as it currently has the ddi at 10 or

2) insert a new graphics card in the motherboard, but I don't know if there's room to do that!

I'm trying to play a new game I just bought and everything meets the specs, but I didn't realize my graphics card was at dx10 and not dx11...bah! It is an older computer, but it still runs fantastic. I'm assuming this has integrated graphics that is soldered onto the motherboard.

Any help would be amazing!

Thanks,

Sandra

Run DXDIAG again and save all infos.

In resulting DXDIAG.TXT search the line

Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_xxxx&SUBSYS_yyyyyyyy&REV_zz

Copy and paste it here, then we can tell you the architecture of your GPU.

EDIT:

Check the device ID xxxx at following developer site: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/GameTechDev/gpudetect/master/IntelGfx.cfg https://raw.githubusercontent.com/GameTechDev/gpudetect/master/IntelGfx.cfg

to find out your GPU's architecture, assumingly "Sandybridge" (aka http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005524.html 2nd generation)

Only very, very expensive laptops support adding GPUs through an interface called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_PCI_Express_Module MXM (you would find a sticker somewhere advertising such a feature)
