dual xeon / low frequency

Hello,, does a dual xeon , being two CPUs compensate the low base frequency ? I am configuring a dual xeon system : 2 xeon E5-2630 v3 / 8C / 2.4 GHZ. Now having two of those, would it compensate the low frequency? For I need a fast CPU for 3D modeling and more cores for rendering, a faster xeon with dual config would be way more expensive..OR should I stick to an I7 rig ?? ,,thanks a lot

I'm glad to inform you that 2 Xeon processors will compensate and will exceed expectation on your system. Your system will increase performance, frequency, speed etc.

For example, the latest Intel® High End Desktop Processor the i7-5960x comes with 8 cores. Using 2 Xeon processors, you will have 16 cores instead.

Another plus with Xeon processors is that they support Intel QPI speed. Bear in mind that you will need to include a video card since these Xeon processors do not come with onboard video.

this would determine my final decision : the E5-2630 v3 you pointed to , supports up to 1866MHz DDR4 ram . How would it affect installing 2133MHz DDR4 ? and is the E5-2630 v3 a mobile or a tower workstation ! ! ! CPU ?

Noxco, we would recommend customers to use the correct memory on their system in order to avoid any problem on the future.

The use of memory out of specification could damage the processor. Even though Intel makes unlocked and Extreme Series processors that are robust enough to handle customizations, Intel doesn't recommend over clocking any of their internal components (memory, video or CPU) and there is no warranty support for that practice.

Usually, using memory out of specifications will decrease the lifetime of the processor and it could generate processor damage, however you are free to use the memory you prefer.

Also, respoding to the 2nd question, the E5-2630 v3 is a Server processors.
