Hyperthreading glitch fix for my Kaby Lake? (i7-7700k)

Hello,

With all the buzz about the recent report posted by Debian about the hyperthreading glitch with most i7 processors I was wondering if there are any other solutions for my Kaby Lake. Other than waiting for my motherboard manufacturer to update the BIOS (ASUS), which probably won't happen anytime soon, I'm hoping there is another option. The Debian report states that "these errata were fixed by microcode updates issued in early April/2017. Based on this date range, microcode revision 0x5d/0x5e (and higher) for Kaby Lake processors with signatures 0x806e9 and 0x906e9 *might* fix the issue. We do not have confirmation about which microcode revision fixes Kaby Lake at this time."

How do I figure out which microcode revision I am running and what "signature" I have?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello Episko,

Thank you for contacting Intel Communities.

I understand you want to know what is the microcode revision you are running.

In this case, this information is provided only by the motherboard's manufacturer (ASUS) as they are the ones providing the BIOS update for your motherboard. As of now, the BIOS update is the only way to update the microcode.

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,
