Having issues with drivers

So I have been having problems since a few days ago when I plugged my laptop into an HDMI to Component Signal Converter(for my tv). The screen was cut off but that is not the issue I'm here for. After I disconnected it I went to try to change a setting through my Intel HD Graphics control panel. However, upon trying to open it I got the loading image as normal but when the window appeared it was frozen and black. So I figured I would try the Intel Driver Updater, but upon updating, I received an error message something along the lines of "failed to update one or more features" and the driver updater would be stuck after the install window closed. Then I figured I would try to uninstall and reinstall the driver. I uninstalled it and rebooted. then I ran the driver install file from the update separately, (and later through the Driver Updater) to no avail. Finally, I went to the manufacturer's (dell) website and got a driver install file made for my laptop, (Compatible with Windows 8.1 my previous os I upgraded to 10 when I got the laptop). Despite the successful install, the system would not change over from the backup basic display driver that Windows was using, and I could not get it to recognize it. after uninstalling the intel driver again the display adaptor listing has disappeared from the device manager and a different listing was added for graphic card support that was lacking a driver. Now I'm stuck as I seemingly lack a way to reinstall a working Intel driver for my laptop and HDMI doesn't even work. My restore points led to errors as well and failed to work. If anyone can help please do.

If any system info is needed I'll be glad to provide it.

(Sorry if I posted in the wrong section.)

This is your processor:

http://ark.intel.com/products/82103/Intel-Celeron-Processor-N2840-1M-Cache-up-to-2_58-GHz Intel® Celeron® Processor N2840 (1M Cache, up to 2.58 GHz) Product Specifications

It is supported on Windows 10:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005526.html# celeron Supported Operating Systems for Intel® Graphics Products

Two issues:

Intel does not support using converters such as you tried with HDMI to Component.

The driver update utility is intended for Intel boards.

What got corrupted is beyond me. You will have to wait for the Intel Support Staff to respond, typically Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm.

Sorry I could not help you.

Hey! Thanks for the link and info it really helped clarify some things that helped me (I know that sounds odd). I managed to get the "Display adapters listing back with the Microsoft basic display driver working again. I had also found out I uninstalled something else Intel related from the manufacturer (which I have reinstalled). I still seem to be unable to reinstall the PC manufacturers driver without getting an error of one or more components failing to install. the drivers from the link you gave tell me I either don't meet the minimum requirements or something similar. I, however, have noticed that if I open device manager and select the basic display driver and ask it to update, "browse my computer for driver software", "Let me pick from a list of drivers I already have", I have a few options. (included image) however none of these work (except the default display one) they all give me a "cyclic redundancy error". If you need an image of the error let me know. If you still cannot help, and this is not the place to wait for Intel support staff let me know. (Sorry for bumping this if that is the case.)

Hello Nevik_9191,

Al Hill is right, Intel does not support using converters such as you tried with HDMI to Component, also that your best contact support is with your system manufacturer as they are more familiar with your system and how all the components interact with each other.

However, if you want to install the Intel® generic driver you can do it manually if you are getting errors to install it but the proper driver is provided by your computer manufacturer. Before installing the generic driver uninstall the driver you have installed right now.

Please see https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005598.html Uninstalling the Intel® Graphics Driver and Intel® Display HDMI/Audio Driver

When you uninstall the driver, do not restart the system and disconnect the internet, this is to avoid Microsoft to update the driver on your system automatically.

Once the driver is uninstalled, you can go ahead and install the new driver version manually, please see how to https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 and Windows 8*/8.1*

You can download the latest graphics driver here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26813/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-33-?v=t Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.33]

I hope this can help.

Best regards,

Ivan U.

Thanks, Ivan.

However, This does not solve my problem.

the uninstall solution you provided I have already performed yet the above post shows drivers remaining on my system. Upon trying the manual install with both my manufacturer's driver and the generic Intel one I received the following error. (see image below.) Is there anything else I can do?

Please bear in mind that your best contact support is with your computer manufacturer as they are more familiar with your system and how all the components interact with each other.

We can give suggestion but how effective is going to be is hard to tell, at this point, I can suggest you to do a system restore, this will take you back to a previous date when the system was working better and it might solve your problem.

Please check the following link for system restore on Windows® 10:
