Hi, I'm a bit confused. The thread at shows that the issue should be fixed, but it is still crashing for me like before the issue was resolved for others. The output from Intel System Support Utility is attached.

Hi IHateJava ,

Can you try this driver also ? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26682/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-40-?product=80939 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.40]

If it doesn't work with that one then is a driver problem, because I have a similar problem with the last driver on Intel HD 530, but with driver 4614 is working.

I can't install this driver for some reason. It tells me that my computer does not meet the minimum requirements.

Be sure that you downloaded the version for 64 bit Windows. I checked the driver and Intel HD 4600 is supported and it should work, unless there is something customized on your Notebook.

You can try to uninstall the driver and install the new one, and even try to install it manually as driver update from System in Control panel.

Hello IHateJava,

I understand Doom 2016 crashes a few moments after launching.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

I would like you to try reinstalling the graphics driver. Please download this graphics driver https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26682/eng/win64_154034.4624.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26682/eng/win64_154034.4624.zip

As soon as the graphics driver has been downloaded on the keyboard press WinLogo key + r, then type in devmgmt.msc, double click on Display Adapters -> Intel HD Graphics -> Driver tab -> Uninstall -> Select the check box Delete the driver software for this device -> OK, restart the computer, and then reinstall the graphics driver with the steps that are on this YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY

If issue persists please access the BIOS of the notebook and check if there is any option to increase video memory. The issue you are currently having might be because the system might not have enough video memory available. This link will show you how to enter the BIOS https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c00034791 https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c00034791

Let me know if issue persists or not.

Hi Fred

Manually installing the driver did not work. It refused to install, saying it is not compatible with my version of windows. Is there a driver that supports Windows 7?

Thanks

I checked again and it seems that that driver supports Intel HD 4600 only in windows 10 ...

And Fred that is not a memory problem because even with 16 GB of RAM with the last driver 4678 on Intel HD 530 on windows 8.1 the game freezes and with driver 4614 the game runs perfectly fine.

Also the game runs on windows 10 with both drivers so it seems like is more like an optimization for windows 10, and older windows versions are not working with that optimization on the last driver.

I checked HP drivers and they are extremely old.

IHateJava on windows 7 the driver assigns about 1.7GB for the igpu and on windows 8.1 and windows 10 about 4GB. I don't think that this should have anything with the crash you get but you can try windows 10 if you can and see if it works with the latest driver.

For windows 7 i don't think that will be to much support because the video memory limitation. On windows 10 if your system has like 16GB RAM you can get assigned 8GB for video memory ...

Hi. This driver gives me the same issue. I downloaded the .zip that says it is for Windows 7, 8, and 10 64 bit. I followed the steps in the video, and the installation failed again, saying it does not support this version of Windows. The driver list shown did not list Intel HD Graphics 4600, so I selected the generic one.

Hello IHateJava,

This is another version of the same graphics driver, would you please give it a try? https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26228/eng/win64_154028.4501.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26228/eng/win64_154028.4501.zip

Hello IHateJava,

If possible I would like you to try the graphics driver HP* provides on their website for your specific computer model. This procedure is just to check if this is or not a regression issue in our latest graphics driver. You can download the graphics driver from this link http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72370.exe http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72370.exe

If issue persists please attach to this forum thread the DxDiag and DispDiag reports.

DxDiag Instructions:
  1. Click on the "Start Menu" -> Type "DxDiag" -> Press "Enter" -> Wait for the DirectX Diagnostic Tool to finish loading
  2. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click "Save All Information" -> Save the file DxDiag.txt
  3. Include DxDiag.txt as an attachment in the Intel Community Forum

DispDiag Instructions:
  1. Click on the "Start Menu" -> Type "cmd" -> Then a command shell window will open
In the command shell, type "dispdiag -out %homepath%\Desktop\DispDiag-Intel-Issue.dat" -> The command shell will output something similar to "Dump File: C:\Users\[username]\DispDiag-# -# -# -# .dat"
  1. Locate the .dat file on your desktop and include DispDiag-Intel-Issue.dat in the Intel Community Forum

Hello IHateJava,

After doing additional research I found out that Doom 2016 might not work correctly on Intel HD Graphics 4600 due to the amount of video memory the graphics controller supports.

What I can recommend is contacting the company that developed the game in order to check if they can provide a patch or workaround for this.

Hello IHateJava,

I was wondering if you had time to contact your game developer team for additional patches or updates for the game.

Hi

I have been informed by the game publisher that you need 2 gigabytes of video memory to run the game. Since I have 14 GB of RAM, I assumed that more would be assigned to the integrated graphics. I guess I was mistaken. Is there any way I could dedicate more RAM to my graphics card, manually?

Hello IHateJava,

Thank you for updating this thread. The BIOS should provide some type of video memory configuration, this is usually located under video settings. I understand Windows® 10 will let the computer use up to 2048MB of video memory.

Have you tested this game on Windows® 10?

See this https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000020962.html link for Graphics memory on Windows® 10.
