If I buy a realsense camera (R200) and download the software will I be able to use it with my surface pro 4 (intel i5 processor, 4GB RAM). I want to use the camera in a construction type manner where I can use the camera and measure what the camera is looking at, kind of like the Dell Venue Pro 8 tablet. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your interest in the Intel® RealSense Technology.
We would like to share the RealSense R200 and SDK R2 minimum requirements:

- 6th generation Intel® Core™ processor
- Microsoft Windows 10
- USB 3.0 (dedicated port)
- 4GB RAM
Intel SDK R2:
- 4th Generation Intel Core Processor or later. Core i5/i7 recommended
- 8 GB free hard disk space
For more details please take a look at these links: https://software.intel.com/sites/default/files/managed/d7/a9/realsense-camera-r200-product-datasheet.pdf Intel® RealSense™ Camera R200 and http://registrationcenter-download.intel.com/akdlm/irc_nas/9078/release_notes_RealSense_SDK_2016_R2.pdf Intel® RealSenseTM SDK.
Additionally, as MartyG has mentioned, there is reported some issues while using a Surface Pro with Intel RealSense cameras, also, I have found this other case that could interest you, it is regarding a user that have been able to use a SP4 with the SR300 camera: /message/446762# 446762 https://communities.intel.com/message/446762# 446762.
Based on the reports, it seems to be some issues using that camera with the SP4, however, other users have used it with other camera models (F200 and SR300) successfully, so we believe you could have some issues using the R200 camera, but in case you get one, don't hesitate to contact us and we will glad to help you.

Researching reports of using RealSense cameras with a Surface Pro, they virtually all described problems. I only saw one instance in which someone had successfully used RealSense on their Surface Pro 4, and I think even that was an F200 camera.

Apparently things are not much better on the current Surface Book range that came after Surface Pro 4.
