Issues with Intel ProSet 14.1

We are trying to upgrade intel ProSet Wireless Software 12.4 to 14.1 for Windows XP machines. To lower user impact we want to do it when no user is logged on via sms 2003, but Intel Pro Set logs in as a default user after installation is complete. It also messes up all default user settings(background for example). Is there a way to deploy Intel ProSet 14.1 when no user is logged on without any issues?

Hi Roman,

In an effort to better assist you with your inquiry, can you provide more detailed information?

How exactly are you trying to push the updates to the systems?

Where you mention "Is there a way to deploy Intel ProSet 14.1 when no user is logged on without any issues?", you mean a way on doing silent installs while the users are not logged?

Any other hint might give us a chance to help on this matter.

Cheers!

Hi,

I am pushing it via SMS (Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003) silently while the users are not logged on. I noticed that after the push laptop logs in as a default user. It occurs only for laptops with the following wireless cards:

Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300

Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100

Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945

I also tested it on a laptop with Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN wireless card and it worked just fine.

Although I am able to deploy it when user is logged on, I want to lower the user impact by installing it when no one is loggged on.

Thank you,

Hi,

Can you tell me what Operating Systems you are using on these systems?

Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300

Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100

Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945

Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN

Cheers!

*PS, forgot to ask, how many systems you got with the same scenario?

Hi,

They are all Windows XP. Right now we are planning to deploy it only to 200 machines(which already have Intel ProSet 12.4) with these wireless cards:

Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300

Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100

Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945

After that deployment we will need to deploy it to another 300 laptops with different intel wireless cards.

For testing purposes I am using 3 machines:

Dell Vostro 1700

Dell Vostro 3700

Dell Latitude E6410

Thank you,

Hi,

In this case we can suggest trying the parameters from the following links for Silent Installs. There's plenty of install instructions on those links.

Silent installation of wireless drivers and PROSet version 12.x

http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-030736.htm http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-030736.htm

Silent installation of wireless drivers and PROSet version 13.x

http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-031852.htm http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-031852.htm

Now, the second link should also apply for PROSet 14.x as well.

Cheers!

I am already using this parameters. You can dismiss this case, because we will have to deploy it using the old school(run it manually on each laptop). Thanks for all your help:)
