Xeon E3-12xx v5 processors and Intel CAT

I am considering to build a Xeon workstation with Xeon E3-12xx V5 (Skylake) for experiments with Intel CAT (cache allocation technology). I was told that Skylake Xeons should have the CAT support. However, I couldn't find it in the datasheet for the processor. Could someone please confirm this?

If any of you have a Xeon E3-12xx V5 processor, you can verify the Intel CAT support with the "pqos -s" command. The pqos command can be installed from the intel-cmt-cat package of your Linux distribution. Thank you very much.

Hello corequmb:

In regard to your inquiry, the Intel® Xeon E3-12xx V5 processor family, does not support CAT (cache allocation technology), as you can confirm on the following link:

Alberto,

Thank you for your reply. I think the link you gave is a little bit out-of-date. In fact, some Xeon E3 v4 processors do have the CAT support, according to this link https://github.com/01org/intel-cmt-cat GitHub - 01org/intel-cmt-cat: User space software for Intel(R) Resource Director Technology . I was also told that most, if not all, skylake Xeon CPUs support CAT. Confused .

Hello corequmb:

Thank you very much for providing that information.

Based on that document the version that supports CAT is v4.

Since the information you are requesting is related to v5 version, we will need to do a research in order to confirm that information.

So, we will start the research on this matter and as soon as I get the results of it, I will post all the details on this thread.

Any questions, please let me know.

Alberto

Hello,

Intel CAT (cache allocation technology) is supported on v3 and v4 only on the E5 processor line, not the E3.

I hope this helps,
