Hello!

So I have two laptops:

1. Asus Zenbook

- Windows 8 64bit

- Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 using https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22741&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications this driver (15.8.0 on the package, device properties says 15.8.0.5).

2. Clevo P150HM

- Windows 7 64bit (SP1)

- Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 using https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22784&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%207%20(64-bit)*&DownloadType=Software%20Applications this driver(15.8.0 on the package, device properties says 15.7.0.3).

and I have one router:

Asus RT-N66NU

- Firmware: 3.0.0.4.260

- Authentication / Encryption: WPA2-Personal / AES

And unfortunately also one problem: the 6300 card performs badly. When testing my download speed (via e.g. speedtest.net) I consistently get around 95Mb/s with a response time of 4ms when testing with the 6235 card but I consistently get somewhere between 30Mb/s to 70Mb/s with a response time of 7ms when testing with the 6300.

My connection speed is 100Mb/s up and down. The laptops are located next to each other, about 1.5m from the router. The properties under the "Advanced" tab in the device properties are setup identically. I've disabled all possibly interfering software (firewalls, anti-virus etc.) I've tried the generic drivers installed by Windows, but with the same result.

In Windows both cards report a connection speed of 300Mb/s to the router.

Any clues on what could be causing this?

Cheers!

Hello Thingummywut,

I guess you are getting identical local connection speeds from either Intel® PROSet/Wireless Connection Utility or the command "netsh wlan show interfaces". Since this issue does not seem to be driver related, could the router have some modified QoS or access restrictions setup?
