download the .EXE file, or modify the .inf for your hardware vendor.

I also received the "does not meet the minimum requirements" message when trying to run the installation exe for the Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver (version 2875) and found this thread. I have a DZ77BH-55K board w/ 3770K processor so there are no OEM complications. I was later able to install the driver and wanted to share what I THINK I did to correct the problem.

My BIOS was set up so that integrated graphics was "enabled if primary" and my only monitor was connected via a PCIe graphics card so I think integrated graphics was disabled. In fact Windows 8 device manager did not show the integrated graphics under "display adapters". I changed the BIOS to "always enable" and the integrated graphics then showed up in device manager and I was able to successfully install the new driver. Hope this helps someone.

That's a known issue for the zip version of the driver, download the exe version, this should work.

Hi darkschalie

Can you give a bit more info on your system?

1. Is it a OEM system such as Dell, HP, Sony, etc?

2. If it is, what model?

3. If it is not, is it a "home built system"?

4. If it is home built, what motherboard are you using?

It's a Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 (laptop).

OK,, so per previous posters you do have a OEM modified driver specific to your system that is blocking the install of the generic Intel HD driver.

So you have a couple of choices:

You can leave the system as is.

You can wait for Dell to update the custom drivers for it then upgrade.

You can overwrite the custom driver that Dell installed with the generic Intel HD Graphics driver.

If you do install the generic driver you will loose any customization Dell has done to the driver for your system. However, if the generic driver is not what you expected, you can re-install the Dell customized driver.

I would also if you install the generic driver that you create a system restore point before installing the generic driver. This will also allow you to "roll back" to the previous configuration of the system with the Dell customized driver.

Installing the generic Intel HD graphics driver is pretty simple. You just download the latest version of the zip format driver, extract it to a folder on your system, and install it via the device manager using the "have disk" method. Details on how to do this can be found here: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm?wapkw=4id+driver http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm?wapkw=4id+driver

Even on a generic Intel system, the zip version of the 8.15.10.2778 downloadcenter driver reports this computer does not meet the minimum requirements because it contains a faulty inf named "kit45406.inf" instead the usual "igdlh64.inf".

For now I'll just leave it, it works well for the games I play.

edit : oh by the way, is there any way to increase the graphics memory for the HD 4000? I saw some videos where they had 1024MB of minimum graphics memory.

Hi Yups,, The latest posted HD4000/2500 is 15.26.12.64.2761. Where are you seeing 2778?

Sorry, I meant 2761. And this contains a kit45406.inf which is not suitable for generic systems. The exe version is fine.

good man, Robert. hopefully that 8.15.10.2761 64bit ZIP download package will have the igdlh64.cat and igdlh64.inf files included and not the OEM inf/cat files.

for Yups information, the 8.15.10.2778 driver was released exclusively to http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/usgen1/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?DriverId=241TV Dell a few weeks ago.

resolves a critical problem on a Win7 64bit system. only applies to Dell XPS Notebook L421X.

Dell classifies their driver package as "Urgent" as it fixes a serious problem. Do not use 8.15.10.2778

driver on other machines but the Dell XPS L421x laptop.

Since I use a Dell Inspiron 620 desktop computer, the 8.15.10.2778 driver provided by Dell won't work on it unless I edit the INF file to make the installation work but doing that breaks Microsoft's digital signatures. Anyways, the 2778 driver is for that particular Dell XPS laptop only and not for other Dell desktop & laptop computers and other name-brand computers. I'll stick to using the generic Intel 8.15.10.2761 driver on the Inspiron 620 desktop machine.

I know this all what you say. You have to use a generic inf in order to run this OEM driver. This is nothing new really for such OEM released driver. The driver itself is from Intel. For example it resolved the ComputeShader Raytracing DX11 glitches, the artefacts are gone. But this is out of context here, I accidentally said 2778 when I meant the generic 2761 since we are refer to an official posted Intel driver on their own download page, there shouldn't be such OEM inf included. This issue was reported several times by the way, for example here:

I FINALLY GOT THIS TO WORK!!!

Ok, the problem here is that your specific device is not mentioned in the *.inf file. This file is checked by the driver setup before the installation starts (to check if it can be installed on your device or not), so when it doesn't find your device information it results in an error.

I found a solution to this issue in the article: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/513621/geforce-mobile-gpus/installer-cannot-continue-the-graphics-driver-could-not-find-compatible-graphics-hardware-installer-/ https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/513621/geforce-mobile-gpus/installer-cannot-continue-the-graphics-driver-could-not-find-compatible-graphics-hardware-installer-/

It's pretty useful, thanks OP

Or, you can follow these steps:

1. Start -> Control Panel -> Device Manager

2. In Display adapters: Right click on the any of the drivers shown (even it's the VGA). Select Properties -> Details -> Hardware Ids (From the drop-down menu)

3. In the Value field, you'll find something like this: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_056A1028&REV_09 .This has the detail about your specific video card maker, chipset and model, and it is what we will use in modifying the inf file.

4. Download the ZIP version of the latest Dell driver (Video_Intel_W74_A01_Setup-373Y7_ZPE)

5. Extract it. It should show the 'System does not meet minimum requirements' message. Close the message.

6. In the extracted folder (Default: C:\Dell\Drivers\373Y7\Graphics) search for a file named kit43850.inf

7. Take a backup of the .inf file first. Then open the file as text to modify it (I used notepad ++).

8. Search the file for PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166 .(This should direct you to the section where you should put your system data), you should find a number of matching results.

9. CAREFULLY search for the section that has the most similar data to your SUBSYS , and insert your data in the correct place.

For example: In my inf file, I found a section that is most similar to my device specs: (It had the same VEN, DEV, and the first 3 letters in the SUBSYS)

%iIVBGM0% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_05691028;

%iIVBGM0GT1% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0156&SUBSYS_05691028;

%iIVBGM0% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_056D1028;

%iIVBGM0GT1% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0156&SUBSYS_056D1028;

Insert your data in the correct position. My SUBSYS is SUBSYS_056A1028 so I put it after SUBSYS_05691028 & before SUBSYS_056D1028 . It will be something like this:

%iIVBGM0% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_05691028;

%iIVBGM0GT1% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0156&SUBSYS_05691028;

%iIVBGM0% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_056A1028;

%iIVBGM0GT1% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0156&SUBSYS_056A1028;

%iIVBGM0% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_056D1028;

%iIVBGM0GT1% = iIVBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0156&SUBSYS_056D1028;

Please notice that all I did was copy & paste the lines, then change the SUBSYS name - nothing more.

10. Go a few lines up, you'll find another pattern to edit similarly. Here is the file after I edited it:

%iSNBGM1% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0106&SUBSYS_05691028;

%iSNBGM2% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&SUBSYS_05691028;

%iSNBGM2P% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126&SUBSYS_05691028;

%iSNBGM1% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0106&SUBSYS_056A1028;

%iSNBGM2% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&SUBSYS_056A1028;

%iSNBGM2P% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126&SUBSYS_056A1028;

%iSNBGM1% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0106&SUBSYS_056D1028;

%iSNBGM2% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0116&SUBSYS_056D1028;

%iSNBGM2P% = iSNBM0, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0126&SUBSYS_056D1028;

11. In the extracted folder (C:\Dell\Drivers\373Y7) Right click on the Setup.exe and choose Run as administrator.

12. During the installation it will say that this drive isn't safe or something, choose install anyway.

13. Restart the machine, and Voila!

If you open your Device Manager, you shall find Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 in your Display adapters. You can now proceed with your other video driver installer.

I hope this helped.
