Hello,
we do have two Lenovo X220 Tablets with integrated Intel HD Graphics.
On one of them today the following problem occured (perhaps auto-updated the drivers while having been connected to the internet):
While booting the internal display works just fine. But after the Windows 7 (64bit) Logo was shown, the internal display blacks and only the external VGA-connected monitor works. Switching between external, extended and internal works fine (if external is the only selected display to use, the resolution is higher than in clone-mode). In extended-desktop-mode I can move the mouse out of the external display to the internal screen, but can't see it there...
The background-light is on, so it is activated. When switched to external display only-mode, the background-light of the internal display switches off.
Uninstallung Intel HD-graphics works to get back a usable Windows-Laptop but isn't satisfying.
The previous driver which I can download on the Intel-website doesn't work, too. And Lenovo-Update offers an Intel GT1/GT2-Driver, which doesn't solve the problem, too. Though it is no damage of hardware, only software problem, I don't know who to get into contact with: Lenovo or Intel. Who can solve the problem?
After the christmas days/New Years Eve the notebook has to be usable again for being used in the lectures of our faculty...
Here the hardware information, I can get from the Intel-Driver:

Hello,
The drivers that are provided through our web site and most of the drivers provided through Microsoft* Update driver wizard, are generic drivers that are not customized for Original Equipment Manufacturer systems.
We always recommend on using the drivers provided directly by your system manufacturer instead of using generic drivers, specially when using tablet or similar computers.
In this case, I suggest you to uninstall the generic driver you loaded and use the drivers directly provided by your Original Equipment Manufacturer. To contact them you can refer to:
http://www.lenovo.com/contact/us/en/ http://www.lenovo.com/contact/us/en/
In addition you can try setting the system to a previous restore point or use the restore CD or DVD that comes with the computer.

The previously uses drivers were the original lenovo. Using the Intel drivers was a trial to solve that issue.
After Xmas I will try a reinstall from scratch.
Happy Xmas
