I just bought a new notebook and try to setup Wifi hotspot on it, but failed.

I tried above methods but still failed.

Then I input netsh wlan show drivers in cmd and find that

Hosted network supported : No

I already tried different version of driver but still failed.

Is Wireless-AC 8260 not support the hosted network function?

With this adapter, is impossible to setup wifi hotspot?

Hello Aruma,

We understand that you're having issues sharing your network connection using the Mobile Hotspot feature in Windows® 10.

Sharing your internet connection is supported in Windows® 10 using the native Mobile Hotspot feature. Microsoft* does not otherwise permit certified drivers to allow Hosted and Ad-Hoc Networks as per their current driver model.

Our recommendation is to work with the latest wireless driver provided by your computer manufacturer. Alternatively, you may delete this driver and install our latest Intel® Generic driver. If neither will allow this feature to be enabled, you may need to contact Microsoft* Support, or your http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/topics/OEMs.html computer manufacturer for assistance.

Please keep in mind that before enabling connection sharing you must already be connected to the internet, either via WiFi or Ethernet connections.

For the windows Native mobile hotspot feature, I got a error message that

"We can't set up mobile hotspot because your PC doesn't have an Ethernet, Wi Fi or cellular data connection."

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-networking-winpc/windows-10-mobile-hotspot-problem/4ad0441a-5a7e-4afb-8ab2-5acdbd7faf53 Windows 10 Mobile Hotspot Problem - Microsoft Community

Is same as above case. I can connect to Internet while using PPPOE but when I tried to use mobile Hotspot feature with

PPPOE I got the above error.

Is the network adapter don't support windows 10 mobile hotspot with PPPOE or Microsoft problem?

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/dual-band-wireless-ac-8260-brief.html Product Brief: Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260

Futhermore, Do the network adapter AC 8260 mentioned its supported windows 10 mobile hotspot on its specification?

If yes, please tell me which function on the specifications.

Hello Aruma,

As best we understand it, the Windows® 10 Mobile Hotspot feature does not work with PPPOE, as it may not recognize this as a direct internet connection. Please bear in mind this is not a feature controlled by our driver, it's managed entirely by the operating system. This is supported by our adapter, as our drivers are fully Windows® 10 Certified.

To further confirm our answer, we tested sharing both our WiFi and Ethernet connections using a Windows® 10 Laptop in our lab featuring the same wireless adapter.

Best regards,
