I can't install the proper graphics drivers. Intel Core i5-4210U

I bought a Lenovo Flex 2 with the Intel Core i5-4210U processor and use Windows 10, but whenever I try to install the proper drivers, it fails. The Driver Update Utility doesn't return any results, instead saying that I have a custom model and to seek drivers from my manufacturer. Logically this should be the correct download: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25860/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-?product=81498 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 [15.40][4th Gen]. I start installing it, but it eventually cancels, giving me the error message "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer. Setup will exit. Would you like more information? Click Yes to be directed to the Intel support website." It then sends me here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005469.html Error Message: Computer Manufacturer Graphics Driver Detected. I also tried installing drivers straight from Lenovo. Logically the best driver using this approach would be this: http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Flex-Series/Flex-2-15-Notebook-Lenovo/80FK/downloads/DS103743 Laptops :: Lenovo Flex Series Laptops :: Flex 2-15 Laptop (Lenovo) :: 80FK - Lenovo Support (CA). I noticed that this driver is considerably older than the one from Intel, but I tried it anyway. Upon installing this driver, I get the same cancellation, error message, and link as I did with the driver straight from Intel. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Hello YoungNick ,

Thank you for joining the Intel communities.

That message indicates that your computer manufacturer does not allow the installation of generic Intel graphics driver. You are required to install drivers from your computer manufacturer; however, you may try forcing the installation of Intel generic driver by performing manual procedure, see here for instructions: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html How to Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 &…

Note: Once you install the "generic" driver you will overwrite any customizations your system manufacturer made to the driver specific for your system model.

Best wishes,

Ivan

Hi, I had the same issue with my Lenovo T450 - Lenovo's modified drivers are very out of date (but also very stable) and will not allow non-Lenovo drivers to be installed over them.

Uninstall the video drivers from control panel, restart your laptop, then run the installer for the Intel drivers - should go through without issues.

1.Open Windows 10 Control Panel by typing control panel in search box and clicking Control Panel.

2. View by Small icons. Click Device http://goo.gl/maoapk Manager.

3. In Device Manager, expand category Display adapters. Right click on the Intel device and select Update Driver Software…

4. Click Browse my computer for driver software.

5. Click Browse button, and navigate to the location where you put the downloaded driver file. Then follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

Use Windows Update for new drivers

Following steps are for your reference how to use Windows Update in Windows 10 to update drivers.

1. Click Start menu and click Settings.

2. In Settings Window, click Update & security.

3. In UPDATE & SECURITY, click Windows Update in left pane. In right pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.

4. Click the link that tells you optional updates are available. (If you don't see this link, it means Windows Update didn't find any updates for your computer.)

I am having the same problem on my HP Envy x360 Model 15-u010dx laptop running Windows 10 Home 64-bit O.S.

The message says it is running a Windows 8 driver on my Windows 10 system:

The Intel HD Graphics Family Properties lists a Driver Date of 6/29/2015 and a Driver Version of 10.18.15.4248:

Both the HP and Intel installations fail with:

I have also tried going to the Device Manager and uninstalling the driver software. I have tried installing from my computer AND searching automatically for updated driver software and get the message:

The Intel HD Graphics Family Properties STILL lists a Driver Date of 6/29/2015 and a Driver Version of 10.18.15.4248.

Try installing the latest driver released and follow the steps from the link above to manually install the driver, you can download the latest driver here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25951/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-?product=81497 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25951/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-?product=81497

If you are not able to install the driver is because your computer manufacturer does not allow the installation of the Intel generic driver.

Well how disappointing. Since HP is blocking this update, I guess the answer is DO NOT BUY HP!!! Seems like intel could have a work around. A very sad and DISAPPOINTING non-solution...

Try uninstalling the driver first, you can follow the steps how to uninstall the driver here:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005598.html Uninstalling the Intel® Graphics Driver

After you uninstall the driver restart your system and then manually try to install the Intel generic driver.
