Intel Graphics 4600 Monitor detection

Hi there,

I recently bought a 144hz monitor (BenQ XL2430T) and i currently have a MSI GS70 2PE stealth pro, with a GTX 870M GPU.

When i am using the HDMI cable, i was able to connect to the monitor itself. However when i am connecting a mini DisplayPort (laptop) to a DisplayPort (monitor) to be able to get 144hz during game play, the monitor was detected however no image comes out from the external monitor. In the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, there is an option to select the monitor for single display and when i press the "apply" button, it reverted to using the laptop monitor instead of the external monitor.

I have tried reinstalling both Nvidia and also intel drivers, unistalling and rebooting the laptop so that the Intel HD graphics would auto reinstall, rebooting both devices, and unplugging and plugging in the cable after reboot.

In the display option, when i tried using the detected monitor and press "apply" an error showed up (attached picture).

All attempts have been replicated multiple times and yet the same thing happens.

Is there anyway to solve this issue?

Hello, Warbandit:

Thank you for contacting the Intel Communities.

Have you checked with your OEM to see which drivers are recommended to be used with their product and Windows 10*?

Their support page provides with Windows 7* and 8.1 drivers only, that would be the reason why I am asking you this. https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GS70-2PE-Stealth-Pro.html# down-driver&Win8.1 https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GS70-2PE-Stealth-Pro.html# down-driver&Win8.1 64

Here you can find the drivers for Intel® HD Graphics 4600 on Windows 10*: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25860/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-?product=81496 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25860/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-15-40-4th-Gen-?product=81496

or https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25541/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-15-40-?product=81496 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25541/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-10-15-40-?product=81496

What happens if you change the output with ctrl+p ?

I look forward to your outcome with this.

Hi Esteban.

Sorry for the late reply.

I tried every suggestion but results to nothing. ctrl+p results the same way where the monitor doesn't show anything and reverts back to the laptop monitor.

I think it could be a cable problem so im still waiting for it to arrive (expecting it to arrive today). I will update here any results that i will obtained once i tried a different cable.

Thanks.

Hi Esteban C.

Thank you for helping me out. Apparently it was an issue with the cable. I had it replaced and it is working perfectly.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused as i wouldn't have thought it would be the cable issue as it can be detected by the Intel® HD Graphics 4600 drivers.

Regards,

Warbandit.
