Steps to reproduce the issue:
1) Install and start Mass Effect 2 (I downloaded it from Steam)
2) While in play, press the Esc button to access the game menu
3) The game crashes with an error in igdumd32.dll
The problem is systematic.
The system is a Lenovo L520 with Intel HD Graphics 3000, running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, with the latest available graphics driver, version 8.15.10.2509 (version .2559 is not available from Intel web site anymore, as far as I can tell).
Intel reports the game as playable with HD Graphics 3000, see http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intelhdgraphics3000_2000/sb/CS-032052.htm http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intelhdgraphics3000_2000/sb/CS-032052.htm
I have seen other users reporting the same issue. Is there any known workaround, or a fix coming up from Intel?
Thanks!

This workaround for Rage+Steam was recently posted on the forum: /servlet/JiveServlet/download/140911-35573/Rage Workaround.docx http://communities.intel.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/140911-35573/Rage%20Workaround.docx
I am finding the same workaround allows to hit Esc and go to the in-play meny of Mass Effect 2 without issues. I haven't had a chance to progress further in the game yet, but the workaround proposed for Rage could also apply to ME2.
