display from laptop to TV keeps reverting back to centre image wont stay on maintain display scaling ..HELP PLEASE:(

when i go to watch kodi and just say i click on a movie and come off the screen reverts back to centre image (goes very small) and i change it back to maintain display scaling but it reverts back ... doing my head in ... how do i fix it ?
