Reproduce with AIDA64 software.

After display OpenGL detail, 10%CPU are constantly used (system resource).

other example/software:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-5300U CPU @ 2.30GHz

x64-based PC, windows 7

Intel ® Graphics Driver Version 20.19.15.4501

Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500

Installed Drivers "igdumdim64.dll,igd10iumd64.dll,igd10iumd64.dll,igdumdim32,igd10iumd32,igd10iumd32"

And battery life decrease from 16h45 to 7h18 !

Hello David,

You can find the latest graphics driver at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26305/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=86210 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26305/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=86210 just in case you aren't already running on the latest.

This is a Beta driver; see if it works for you, I suggest you to uninstall the old driver first and the reinstall the Beta driver.

Please see http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005598.html?wapkw=intel+display+audio Uninstalling the Intel® Graphics Driver and Intel® Display HDMI/Audio Driver then install the Beta driver manually, please see http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005474.html How to Manually Install a Graphics Driver in Windows 7*

In addition, you can take a look at the following thread, this one can help you as well.

I previously running latest signed drivers.

Now I removed intel drivers, and installed the beta and ..

It's worse! 25% CPU lost just by making one request to OpenGL driver. Must close apps to terminate this system use.

Being that the case, please run the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool, this software verifies the functionality of an Intel® microprocessor. The diagnostic checks for brand identification, verifies the processor operating frequency, tests specific processor features, and performs a stress test on the processor.

Also, try this other driver:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26347/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40- https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26347/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-

I suggest you to do the same thing uninstall the old one and install this driver manually.

If you still have more issue after doing the test with the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool and when installing the new Beta graphics driver please reply with the Dxdiag, the graphics report and run the Intel® System Support Utility.

Dxdiag:

In the "Run" window, type "dxdiag" and click "OK". A "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" window should pop up. In the appeared window, choose "Save all information". After you've saved the file, please attach it to your reply.

Report for Intel® Graphics Drivers, you can follow the steps at the following link:

Intel® System Support Utility, you can download the software here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

Intel SSU produces an output file that can be saved, viewed, and upload it on this thread.

same with latest drivers. Everything is working, openGL test program work fine.

I launched CPU test: all test passed.

Just when launch 'RF Explorer Windows Client' (http://j3.rf-explorer.com/downloads Downloads ) or 'AIDA64' (https://www.aida64.com/downloads downloads ) and clic on OpenGL information; ig8icd32.dll use CPU and uxsms.dll.

It's linked to aero/intel drivers. When use Classic theme, problem is solved.

Hi, you can more investigate. disable aero solve my problem, but it's just a workaround to increase battery life by 2 and reduce T° when use RFExplorer software.

I tested on the same hardware but with windows 8.1 64bits enterprise and can't reproduce problem. I tested with old driver, and with latest stable.

Hello baudav ,

I was able to replicate the issue with AIDA64, please see picture below.

Did you try the latest Beta driver that it was recently released? you can download it at the following link.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26347/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?v=t https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26347/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?v=t

This drive is a latest version than the one I posted above.

Moreover, I will appreciate if you could fill out the information at the following link and POST it here:

/thread/77761 https://communities.intel.com/thread/77761

You already provided the SSU and the DxDiag so you don't need to provide us with that again.

Just to understand this very well, when you open the OpenGL properties in AIDA64 the CPU increase to 10% and above 20% with the Beta, correct?

Thanks,

Ivan.

Drivers is the same previously installed (see post # 4 the second link posted 10/20 with drivers 4539 = the latest)

Description:

When software use OpenGL, soft use 20% CPU all the time. (20%cpu loss because not used to refresh screen or calculation..)

Hardware (HW): only intel graphics HD 5500 PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1616&SUBSYS_503417AA&REV_09

reproduce with internal LCD or Dual screen (external+internal)

16GB RAM in system; (AIDA64 and HWINFO64 say 1GB video memory)

Software (SW):

Windows 7 Integrale SP1 64bits

'http://j3.rf-explorer.com/downloads RF Explorer Windows Client' all version or 'AIDA64' all version.

Configurations:

reproduce with single screen (integrated lcd)

or extended screen (internal+external: primary=internal)

60Hz 1600x900 and 1650x1050

reproduce in ACmode and DC battery

How to repro

*Must enable AERO Thème in Windows 7 64bit. (I found after more more test, when disable Aero theme, I can't reproduce, and soft use less 1% CPU.)

When in AIDA64 open OPENGL detail tab (same as your screenshot below) CPU load increased 20% and stay 20% used. Change page in AiDA not change. Must close AIDA64 to stop this system loss 20%.

The initial program on which I met the problem is RF Explorer Windows Client (and thank for RF-Explorer support that has found that the problem is related to OpenGL). It's then I did the test with several OpenGL program and successfully reproduce the problem with AIDA64 only when request OpenGL detail.

With RFExplorer when launch program it use 20%CPU constantly but no display refresh, no complex graph.. (and loss more 50% battery life). (website:http://j3.rf-explorer.com/downloads http://j3.rf-explorer.com/downloads you can install and run software, it not require licence or device to run)

Hi baudav

I'm picking up your case to raise priority. Could you please provide the information and collect the logs found using the instructions here? Once I have these, I'll provide them to engineering. Thanks!

and another problem since I switch to use windows theme without Aero, Vsync are disabled, and video tearing... very bad, option in the 3D intel menu not change (https://youtu.be/GvUv0uTkhaA intel vertical sync - YouTube )

tested with previous driver 4501; but same problem: video tearing when disable Aero; and OpenGL use 30% CPU (core i5) when aero enabled and use openGL (RFexplorer, check opengl version with AIDA64).

Development has determined this is not feasible within the driver and will be closing the investigation. Thank you.
