External monitor losing Displayport connection during games

I have an Acer Predator XB241h monitor hooked up to my Gigabyte p35w v3 laptop that has Nvidia Optimus (Intel 4600 and Nvidia970m). It's connected via miniDP on the laptop to DP on the monitor. I'm running Windows 10, the latest version.

The display works fine at 1080p 144Hz on the desktop, but the monitor loses signal and starts a cycle of reconnect/disconnect the instant a game is started up. It works fine in the game menus, but it seems as soon as the GPU is pushed a bit in-game, it loses signal. My frame rate is fine.

What could this be? It works fine via HDMI, I've bought a new certified MiniDP-DP cable (from Accell), AND the monitor works on the display port with other systems. I've also uninstalled/reinstalled all graphics drivers.

Hello, Knibl.

Thank you very much for contacting the Intel® Communities Team.

I understand you are facing some issues with your https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/predator-model/UM.FX1AA.001 Acer Predator XB241H Monitor which losses signal while playing some games with your https://www.gigabyte.com/Laptop/P35W-v3# kf GIGABYTE® P35W V3 Laptop. I will be more than glad to assist you further.

In this case, I would like to double check which is the video controller in charge of the display on your laptop when the DisplayPort™ is connected. Please go to the Windows * Device Manager and double-click on Display adapters. Verify which controller is listed in the drop-down: the Intel® HD Graphics, the NVIDIA® controller or both of them. Please let me know in your next post.

Additionally, I would like to get a Dxdiag report, in order to provide this, please follow these steps:

1. On the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R.

2. In the Run box please type dxdiag and hit Enter.

3. Click on Save All Information (save it to your desktop).

4. To attach a file, you must click the "Attach" option on the bottom right-hand corner of the response box.

Furthermore, can you download and install your https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/Monitor/Monitor_Acer_1.0_W7x86W7x64W8x86W8x64_A.zip?acerid=635900921008013506&Step1=MONITOR&Step2=PREDATOR&Step3=XB241H&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6# _ga=2.238147264.1199730234.1518808801-1719990829.1518808801 monitor's drivers? Please let me know which are the results of this step.
