Hello adrntr,

I understand you are getting red and blue lines on the external monitor you are connection through HDMI cable.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

I would like you to try updating some of the computer drivers in a specific order.

Install this driver first, and then restart the computer http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin10/Chipset/Chipset_Intel_Skylate_Win10_64_VER101113.zip http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin10/Chipset/Chipset_Intel_Skylate_Win10_64_VER101113.zip

Install this other driver, and then restart the computer one more time http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin10/MEI/MEI_Intel_15M_Win10_64_VER11051194.zip http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin10/MEI/MEI_Intel_15M_Win10_64_VER11051194.zip

Download the graphics driver that is on this link https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26772/eng/win64_154518.4664.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26772/eng/win64_154518.4664.zip

As soon as the graphics driver has been downloaded on the keyboard press WinLogo key + r, then type in devmgmt.msc, double click on Display Adapters -> Intel HD Graphics -> Driver tab -> Uninstall -> Select the check box Delete the driver software for this device -> OK, restart the computer, and then reinstall the graphics driver with the steps that are on this YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY

Hello adrntr,

I would like you to try installing previous version of the graphics driver.

Please download this other driver https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26669/eng/win64_154516.4627.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26669/eng/win64_154516.4627.zip

If issue persists please install latest graphics driver ASUS* has validated for your computer. This is the link to their graphics driver http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin10/VGA/VGA_Intel_Skylake_Win10_64_VER2019154454.zip http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/DriversForWin10/VGA/VGA_Intel_Skylake_Win10_64_VER2019154454.zip

Hello adrntr,

Thanks for the additional information you sent to me.

At this point all that I can think of would be an issue with the HDMI port itself on the laptop. The drivers ASUS* provides on their website have been tested and validated to work fine in your specific computer model.

What I can recommend is contacting ASUS* in order to check if they can do some hardware tests and check if the issue is the HDMI port itself. This link will give you their contact information https://www.asus.com/us/support/ https://www.asus.com/us/support/

but why the display of the laptop is related with the hdmi port? i see pixelated letters in the laptop display, not in my second monitor, i'm not using the hdmi port.

Hello adrntr,

What happens is that since the issue happens even with the graphics driver ASUS* provides on their website then the issue might be somewhere else.

I mentioned an issue with the HDMI port due to in your first post you attached a screenshot which shows lines across the external monitor.

The best option would be contacting ASUS* so they can provide more advanced troubleshooting steps for this issue.

Regards,
