Hi, I have a Hp Pavilion dv6 notebook PC with Radeon (TM) HD 6770M graphics, Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 and Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30 GHz 2.30 GHz processor.
I updated all the graphics drivers about 3 months ago and when turned on my laptop, the screen was stretched but apparently there wasn't anything wrong with the resolution, because when I checked it, as it was set on the same resolution as before. I tried playing some games but none of them started because I got messages such as:
I went on Device Manager and there was a exclamation mark icon next to the radon graphics and below it was the intel driver labelled as "unknown device"; also with the same icon. I tried updating both but nothing happened. I tried updating intel display driver via Windows Update but it said that it failed. I restarted the computer several times and still nothing changed.
Any ideas?
Btw sorry if it's in the wrong section or something
Here are my diagnosed system specs:

The error you are getting is because the driver you currently have is HP customized driver. HP uses highly customized drivers for their mobile systems. I would strongly recommend you use the HP drivers rather than the Intel generic drivers. You can get the HP certified drivers here http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support.html HP Support, Drivers, Contact and Help Forums | HP® Support
However, if you do want to overwrite the HP drivers with the Generic Intel drivers, follow these steps exactly. Note, you will loose any customization HP makes in the drivers specifically for your system and the system may not function as HP intended.
Download the zip version of the generic Intel HD Graphics driver here File name: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloads/eula/24696/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-64-bit?httpDown=http://downloadmirror.intel.com/24696/a08/win64_152823.zip win64_152823.zip
Extract it to a folder on your desktop.
1. Login with administrator privileges
2. Open Control Panel
3. Open Device Manager
4. Click on "Display adapters"
5. Double click "Intel HD Graphics"
6. Click on the "Driver" tab
7. Click on "Update Driver" button
8. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software"
9. Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
10. Click on "Have Disk" button
11. Click "Browse"
12. Navigate to the folder that you unzipped the Intel HD Graphics driver to
13. Navigate to the Graphics sub-folder
14. Double click the igdlh64.inf file.
15. Click "OK"
16. Click "Next", Driver should now be installing.
17. If successful, click "Close", Reboot.

I recommend installing drivers directly off your computer manufacturer's web site.

Hi, I recently plugged in my PC which got "Fixed" even though it wasn't very broken not long ago, the person updated it to Windows 10 for me and I tried to run one of my games and it failed and sent me to a place where I could download something (From Intel) which would update my drivers. I tried it but I get to a point where it is installing the new update for my Graphics Driver, it gets pretty much all the way, and then goes right back down and says it failed. I have wasted 5 hours in the past 2 days trying to fix this! It's really annoying and please could someone give me a fix? I know this might not be the right place but I couldn't find where to create my own Thread. Thank you - Nate

I would recommend creating a new thread and provide the Intel® Graphics Controller model or your current processor model.
Please see the attachment that will help create a new post.
