Hi i have this new build and i now have this problem that now and then windows freezes. My 4790K gets varm but it stays under 70 C*. it's around 35-40 idle.

I no the utility from intel could maybe serve me but then i have to take the hole pc apart again! Is there a way to reset cmos other on the motherboard?

These are some suggestions:

  • Test every memory stick individually and/or run a memory diagnostic tool.
  • Test your hard drive with a different port, cable, or system. You may check if the manufacturer provides diagnostic tool software for it.
  • Contact Gigabyte about (resetting) BIOS configuration and other motherboard related questions. Try with default settings.
  • Run http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-031726.htm the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool
  • Test the system out of the chassis with minimum components on a non-conductive surface.

Hi Joe. It turned out that Core Temp Version 6.0 causes these freeze/crashes. Found on Google and lots of windows 8 users faces those problems.

So used Core Temp Version 7.0 instead an no more freeze:) I,ll try out your tool though:)

Thank's for you reply, Joe_Intel,

I don't have to reset cmos before using the Diagnostic Tool?

It is better to run the software with default processor and memory settings in BIOS.
