530 graphics will not detecte duplicate monitor

I have a Dell 17R 3 with a graphics amplifier and a 1070 NVidia graphics card and intel 530 I have the latest drivers for all. Lap top settings are when lid is closed do nothing set for duplicate monitor when the lid is open and monitor on it will duplicate 1/2 when I close the lid it goes back to only 1 screen showing. If the I disable the 530 when close the lid the display setting shows both screens. To watch videos in full screen 530 needs to be disabled. This is not a Microsoft or Dell problem since by taking the 530 out of the picture all works fine. Also when lid open and second monitor on in duplicate 530 does not detect second monitor says there is only the one

Hello rephil:

Based on the information above, since the laptop works with Intel® graphics 530, we can try to install the drivers below:

Driver 4590, latest:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26563/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?product=88345 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26563/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?product=88345

Beta driver 4552:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26464/Intel-Graphics-Beta-Driver-15-45-?product=88345 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26464/Intel-Graphics-Beta-Driver-15-45-?product=88345

Remember that when you use a laptop we always recommend to use the drivers provided by the manufacturer, the Intel® drivers are generic and they might or might not work with your computer, so I was looking in Dell's web site for the graphics drivers for your system, but there are many results for Dell 17R, not sure which one is the specific model you are using:

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-7000/diagnose http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-7000/diagnose

Which Windows version are you using?

Additionally, based on the fact that the laptop supports NVidia graphics card and Intel® HD 530 that indicates the laptop works with switchable graphics, did you try to disable the Nvidia graphics and use only the graphics from Intel?

Please let me know the results of trying the drivers above.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto

I use Windows 10 and this is the graphics card that are on Laptop Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M It is connected to an Alienware graphics amplifier using a GeForce 1070 This is the answer I got from Alienware

"The issue that you are having is a compatibility issue between Windows 10 + Optimus. There is no fix yet, just workarounds.

If they come out with a fix, I'll let you know!"

Hello rephil:

Thank you very much for letting us know that information.

We are really sorry to hear that the problem remains after trying those drivers, it is unfortunate that the system is not working as you expected.

I just wanted to check on that because we did not try those drivers previously, specially the Beta one that was released not long ago, so I just wanted to give it one more try to exhaust all the options.

Hopefully, Alienware will be able to develop a fix for this issue any time soon.

Thank you very much for joining the Intel graphics community.

Any other inquiry, do not hesitate in contact us again.

Regards
