No red displayed by computer

Last night I started up a video game, and my laptop decided that it didn't like the color red, and it http://imgur.com/ShDKYPr stopped displaying it. There is also occasional purple bars that appear randomly, mostly on startup. I've no idea what caused this, but I've tried the following:

  • Restarting my laptop
  • Updating my Nvidia card
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling my intel driver
  • Fixing color calibration
  • Turning it off and going to bed

None of these have helped at all. I'm running a windows 10 home 64 bit Lenovo Y50-70 Touch laptop with an Intel inside core i7 and a Nvidia GTX 960m graphics card. With 8GB of ram and a 1920x1080, 60hz monitor.

Hello Peardude:

Those are pretty good troubleshoot steps in order to try to fix the problem, the laptop is using Nvidia and Intel graphics, that is called switchable graphics, for this type of configuration it is recommended to use the drivers provided by the manufacturer, on the following link you will be able to see them, not sure if you tried this before, but please try to install them:

Did you try to restore the BIOS to defaults?

Did you try a BIOS update?

Did you make recent changes on the laptop?

If that is the case Windows® 10 has an option to do a reset on the laptop, just enter "recovery options" on the search bar, and then select the option "Reset the PC" and then "Keep files".

According to the following link the processor inside the laptop is i7-4720HQ, that processor works with Intel® HD Graphics 4600, so here is the latest version of the graphics driver for that controller, please try to install it:

Driver 4501:

Some laptops have the option in the BIOS to disable a graphics controller, allowing you to choose between Nvidia and Intel, if you have that option please try to disable one or the other to find out which is the source of the problem.

Please let me know the results of trying the steps above.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards

Alberto
