Can I get 5 ghz using Intel N7260? How?

Wifi has both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz, I obviously want to connect to the faster one. The Intel 7260 does not support it, is there a driver to install/replace (or other options) that will enable me to connect to the 5 Ghz?

Thanks

You cannot get 5ghz. The N 7260 is a single band, 2.4ghz only.

Hello zwill,

We understand you would like to connect to a 5 GHz network. In order to do so with a 7260 adapter, it must be one of the following models:

- https://ark.intel.com/products/75440/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-N-7260 Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7260

- http://ark.intel.com/products/75439/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-7260 Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260

For these models using the OEM specific driver, or our latest Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers (generic), you'll be able to natively connect to a network using one of these two bands using the default adapter settings.

There is also an https://ark.intel.com/products/75174/Intel-Wireless-N-7260 Intel® Wireless-N 7260, which is single band (2.4 GHz only). It is not possible to enable dual band capabilities on this particular adapter.

You may confirm which specific adapter you're using by following the steps on our identification article, or by engaging your computer manufacturer:
