OpenCL Driver Problem

I installed a video editing software called "Davinci Resolve" on my partner's old PC laptop. When I ran the app, it said I needed to have the "OpenCL" driver installed. So I found the page that lists the driver (https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/opencl-drivers OpenCL™ Drivers and Runtimes for Intel® Architecture | Intel® Software ), under the heading: "OpenCL™ Driver for Iris™ graphics and Intel® HD Graphics for Windows* OS (64-bit and 32-bit)OpenCL™ Driver for Iris™ graphics and Intel® HD Graphics for Windows* OS (64-bit and 32-bit)". There is a link to an app called "Intel Driver Update Utility", which I installed. I ran it and got the following message: "No drivers were detected for your product." Of course there is no driver! I am wanting to download the driver, which is why I downloaded that utility app in the first place!

So its one of those loops: "You can't get the driver without the utility app, and the utility app needs drivers to update". WTH?! The laptop is running Windows 7 Professional, with an Intel HD Graphics 3000. I tried Googling for a web site that hosts the OpenCL driver for Intel HD Graphics Windows 7 other than Intel's... and a big fat zero. Where do I go from here? Intel says they have the driver available; but I can't download it

By the way, I'm an Apple user trying to transition to Windows. Thank you for any help in advance!

2) your HD3000 http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005524.html (Sandybridge aka 2nd generation) doesn't support GPU accelerated OpenCL, therefore install https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/opencl-drivers# latest_CPU_runtime OpenCL™ Drivers and Runtimes for Intel® Architecture 16.1.1 (CPU only)

3) install latest graphics driver 15.28.24.4229 from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/81500/Intel-HD-Graphics-3000 Downloads for Intel® HD Graphics 3000

4) check functionality with http://www.ozone3d.net/redirect.php?id=401 GPU Caps Viewer 1.32.0 Released (UPDATED: v1.32.0.1) – Geeks3D

Thank you very much to Stefan3D for the information posted previously. To ruinfix: I just wanted to confirm the above information as correct, the Intel® HD Graphics 3000 controller does not support OpenCL, as you can confirm on the following link: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005524.html http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005524.html So, the best thing to do in this case is to install driver 4229 to see if you can run the software with that driver, based on the above information it is not guarantee that it will work for sure. Thank you both for the reply. I ran the 4229 and got the following prompt box:

This computer currently contains driver versions newer than the versions you are about to install. Are you sure you want to overwrite the following drivers with the older versions?

Intel®Display Audio (6.16.0.3137)

Intel ®HD Graphics 3000 (8.15.10.2752)

I know this is an amateur question, but do I overwrite the latest drivers with the 4229 to see if it works? Or, if the newer drivers aren't working, its not worth installing?

Thank you for providing those details. In regard to your inquiry, yes, you can always try to install driver 4229 and test it, because might have better performance in regard to "Davinci Resolve" software, the fact that the drivers are newer does not always mean that they will work better, so yes, try that driver and please let us know the results.
