Saturation Setting Keeps Restting

Hi

I have a Dell XPS, it's only a few months old. Recently I had an issue where the screen would flicker when waking from sleep. Dell got me to roll back my driver which fixed the issue.

However I have since found the display is now too saturated. I got some prints done (I am a photographer) and they all printed too washed out - as I thought I had saturated them correctly but now I see the screen is wrong.

I have gone into the intel graphics settings and reduced the saturation to -25. This gives me a result that is consistent across various screens I have and is good for printing. I have applied it and saved it.

I would not have any issue, except every time I restart, or wake from sleep, the settings reset themselves and everything is too saturated again.

As a photographer, this is the most frustrating thing, and simply not good enough.

I have updated the drivers again but they are still doing it.

How can I stop the settings going back to default and instead sticking with the profile I have loaded. On a $3,000 computer this really isn't good enough.

In order to try to fix the saturation problem on the screen we recommend to do what you did, to install the graphics drivers provided by Dell, I look for them in their web site, but there are many different models for Dell® XPS. Which is the specific model of your computer?Do you know the model of the processor in it? In order to look for Intel graphics drivers.Do you know if your laptop is using 2 different graphics controllers or just the Intel graphics?Which Windows version are you using? Now, just to make sure, to save a profile you just need to get into the Intel® graphics control panel, select the option "save a profile" then make the changes, select that option again and then apply the changes. By doing this the profile should load every time you turn the laptop on, even if you restart it or turn it off, the changes should remain. Any further questions, please let me know. Regards,Alberto

My computer is a Dell XPS 9550 and I am running Windows 10.

Intel Core i7-6700HQ is the processor.

There is Intel Graphics and Nvidia Control Panel

To change the profile I right click my desktop and choose the Intel Control Panel. Then I adjust the slider and click apply changes. Then I am able to save it as a profile. The save as profile box is greyed out until I apply the changes.

Unfortunately it is still resetting when I restart and when I look at Google, I don't seem to be alone with this happening! However one suggestion was to disable Dell Pure Colour or something, which I have done, so will need to give it some time to see if that works. Unfortunately that also changed various colours so I think I will need to calibrate again.

I am having a similar issue here with a notebook that uses integrated Intel HD630 and a dedicated Nvidia 1050ti.

The colours on my monitor (external display) need some saturation adjustment. Actually the first time I have to adjust this...

In nvidia control panel automatic selection of graphics card is selected.

If I use the Intel Control Panel the color settings have no effect on the external monitor. And there is only one monitor available.

Using nvidia control panel I can set color vibrance etc. But after the restart color settings have been reset nvidia setting not saved.

I also had a look at the nvidia forum where this isssue is quite common but I did not find a useful solution to fix this.

I disabled load igfxpers.exe from autostart but that had no effect.

I finally got the manufaturers driver version 21.20.16.4550. Default vga card is Intel HD630...

Intel HD Control Panel Color settings have absolutely no effect on the external monitor connected on DP.

I can modify color settings and digital vibrance in nvidia control panel but again after a restart settings will not be applied.

However Intel HD control panel crashes when trying to open the video settings.

This topic about hardware configuration with 2 graphic adapter, nvidia+Intel is quite discussed a lot. And I actually did not find a solution.

It seems this is not working as manufacturers MSI and ASUS disable integrated graphics on their gaming notebooks.

There is one more thing...

I have some questions because the use of intel hd + nvidia adapter leaves a lot of questions open to me and it would be great to get answers.

If I set Windows (windows settings) to only use the second display than Intel HD Control Panel is missing from the context menue and from the system control panel.

If I set it to duplicate than I have the Intel control panel back.

With this setting on Intel HD control panel identifies my external monitor as internal display. Well I know that is definitely wrong 🙂

While nvidia control panel identifies the external monitor as the external monitor.

Maybe that is the reason Intel HD color settings have no effect on the external screen. But if Intel HD control panel identifies the external monitor als the internal one which is not active (lid closed) tha this is whether a driver bug or a Windows 10 bug, right?

I also thought maybe in this configuration the igpu is hardwired to the internal display and the dedicated gpu to the external monitor.

Somehow this is not working flawless.

Seems no one cares and OEMs do not use optimus setup (igpu disabled).

Sorry I have been out of town for a few days. However here are some answers for you:

1) I can't do the steps in order you suggest as I can not save a profile until after I have clicked the apply option. The save button doesn't work until changes are applied

2) The first driver you sent is the one I updated to last week. It is causing my screen to flicker again - do you think my screen might be faulty?

3) The driver 4664, the second one you suggested, says it is not validated for my system and I was not able to download it

Lastly, I have managed to make the saturation level stay where I want it by disabling "Dell Pure Colour". Obviously that was overriding the Intel options, why I am not sure.

But now I have this issue of the flickering screen. Do you know why that might be?

Yes, the steps to save the profile may vary depending on the graphics driver version installed, but as long as you saved the profile, it should load the settings you chose previously, even if you reset or turn the laptop off.To answer your question, the flickering problem could be related to the monitor or even to the cable that you are using.
