BUG: RST V.14.8.0.1042. SRT Can't accelerate raid.

In the latest version of RST, the SRT function won't allow you to pick a raid drive to accelerate with an ssd. I assume this is a bug as i've not been able to find any reason as to why you wouldn't be able to do so.

I have a spare 60gb ssd laying around. And figured i'd use it to accelerate my drives instead of letting it collect dust.

My drive setup is

C: ssd

D: 500gb hd

E: 2x sshd in raid0

I obviously don't need to accelerate my C:. But my 3 mechanical drives on the other hand. What i wanted to do, using 41.1gb to accelerate the E drive, and 14.9gb to accelerate the D drive. If i could i would've split it 50/6. But 14.9gb is the least you need to assign.

Which drive is the bootable drive?

Was your SSD caching other drives previously?

By C: you mean the SSD contains the OS?

My ssd wasn't caching drives previously. Was used as a temp drive for E: But i wanted to use it for the purpose to accelerate both drives (1 drive is a raid0) instead of just being a temp that has to be manually managed.

By C: i mean boot drive, i assume that even to this day C: is universal for boot drive, which is an ssd.

If the SSD was not accelerated previously you should have an options for acceleration within Intel® Rapid Storage software.

At this stage, I understand C: SSD drive with OS. You cannot use this driver for acceleration.

D and E: You need to check with your drive manufacturer to see if hybrid drives can be use for acceleration. At least, if they are acceleration ready drive.

SSHD's are supported. Not only is there several other threads about people using sshd's. But also the collaboration between intel and seagate in 2012 to demonstrate the sshd at intel developer forum 2012.

So the disks are fine. Right now the entire disk is used to accelerate E: which is an older 500gb drive. What i want is to split the ssd into 2. And have it accelerate both E: & D:. I can find no reason as to why i should not be able to do that unless the RST program itself is bugged.

But one thing to note is that RST sees both sshd drives, but not the raid0. I've seen from other users that their raid shows up in RST as a raid. Mine does not, could also be a bug?

A list of known issues is available here: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/25165/eng/Release_Notes_14_8_PV.htm Intel® Matrix Storage Technology

I would recommend waiting for another driver release at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/55005/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST- Drivers & Software

So, you know a new version is on it's way?

Could you talk about the changelog for this newer version?

I know Intel is constantly releasing new versions of the Intel® Rapid Storage and they will be posted at: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ https://downloadcenter.intel.com/ but at the moment, I do not have an estimate for new drivers. You need to keep on checking download center page.
