Intel datacenter SSD SMART values

I'm looking for a second hand datacenter ssd

and am not clear on some SMART attributes

for some of the ssd's I've asked

for. Attached is one example

and below that is a list of attributes that are not clear.

(E8h)Available reserved space - Data = 0 but threshold is 10 ?

(ABh)Program fail count - Data = 0 ?

(ACh)Erase Fail Count - Data = 0?

(BEh)Case Temperature = 82 - is this too high ?

(B8h)End-to-End Error Detection Count - 90 not 100 ?

(E1h)Host Writes - 0 ?

(E2h)Timed Workload Media Wear = 0 ?

(E3h)Timed Workload Host Read/Write Ratio - =99 - mostly read only ?

(E9h)Media Wearout Indicator = 0 but should be reducing from 100 to min 1?

(F1h)Total LBAs Written = 0 - is this 0 writes ?

(F2h)Total LBAs Read = 405637 - how is it that F1h = 0 for so many

reads ?

Hi vjekob,

Thank you for contacting our support community. We understand your concern regarding the SMART attributes for the SSDs.

We would like to inform you that as per screenshot we were able to see that you are concerned about the Intel® SSD DC S3700 Series. As per our https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000020953/memory-and-storage/data-center-ss... warranty policy, the warranty of the SSD is avoid when you get a second handed SSD, please check the following statement:

This limited warranty, and any implied warranties that may exist under applicable state, national, provincial or local law, apply only to you as the original purchaser of the product and lasts only for as long as you continue to own the product.

We recommend you to check the SMART details with our official tools such as the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27497/Intel-SSD-Data-Center-Tool?product=87278 Intel® SSD Data Center Tool or the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27527/Intel-Solid-State-Drive-Toolbox?v=t Intel® Solid State Drive Toolbox because the values you are getting may not be accurate.

As per SSD's https://ark.intel.com/products/71914/Intel-SSD-DC-S3700-Series-200GB-2_5in-SATA-6Gbs-25nm-MLC specifications, the Operating Temperature Range is 0°C to 70°C so the actual temperature is ok because it is being displayed in Fahrenheit, it is 27.7 °C.

Also, we suggest you check the following article that includes the normalized and raw status as well as threshold values for all the SMART details of the SSD:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000023512/memory-and-storage/data-center-ss... Intel® SSD Data Center Family SMART Attributes -Intel.com

Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

Regards,

Junior M.

Hi Junior M.,

Thanks for the info. That is the document (the SATA one) that I referred to when checking

what was in the SMART figures for the respective SSD, but I found the values of

some of the attributes (listed) to be strange, at least to my understanding. Could youplease comment on these attributes/values ?

Hi vjekob,

Thanks for the reply. We recommend you to get the SMART details form our official tools such as the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27497/Intel-SSD-Data-Center-Tool%3Fproduct%3D87278 Intel® SSD Data Center Tool or the https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27527/Intel-Solid-State-Drive-Toolbox%3Fv%3Dt Intel® Solid State Drive Toolbox because the values you are getting may not be accurate and we can not confirm if they are the same since you are using a different tool.
