cannot connect via wimax 6150

I'm using a Sony Vaio (VPCEG) with an Intel Centrino WiMAX 6150 wireless card.

I'm trying to connect to a Netgear R6300.

WiMAX is unable to find my wireless router.

I have several other desktops and laptops that are connected wirelessly and they run just fine.

Is there something I need to change in the settings on the router?

Thanks.

Hello Trey1970,

We understand you're unable to detect to your wireless router using the Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 6150. Please bear in mind that this adapter has been discontinued and is no longer applicable for support.

Our main recommendation will be to make sure that you're using the latest drivers available for your adapter based on your operating system version. We recommend choosing the latest drivers provided by your computer manufacturer:

NOTE: Any links provided for third party tools or sites are offered for your convenience and should not be viewed as an endorsement by Intel® of the content, products, or services offered there. We do not offer support for any third party tool mentioned here.

If these do not help, or you're using Windows® 10, you may test our latest generic driver for your adapter instead:

With both driver versions you should be able to implement our recommended settings for 802.11n connectivity:

- 802.11n Channel Width for 2.4GHz: 20 MHz (for stability), or Auto (for higher compatibility)

- 802.11n Channel Width for 5.2GHz: Auto

- 802.11n Mode: Enabled

- Fat Channel Intolerant: Disabled

- Roaming Aggressiveness: 1. Lowest

- Throughput Booster: Disabled

- Transmit Power: Highest

- Wireless Mode: 802.11a/b/g

While wireless standards are backward compatible, some newer routers are not so friendly towards legacy devices. Because of this we can recommend making sure that your router is using the latest firmware available:

- https://www.netgear.com/support/product/R6300v2# Firmware Version 1.0.4.8 Netgear* R6300 Software and Downloads.

If at this point you're still unable to connect, please test connecting to a different network to discard hardware issues, or contact Netgear* support for assistance from their end.

We hope this helps.

Best regards,

Carlos A.
