HD 530 + HDMI : RR speaker plays on LR speaker

Hi,

I have a 6600k + MB Gigabyte Z170N Gaming 5 connected in HDMI to a vizio SB4051-C0 soundbar.

I am on Windows 10 x64 with the last driver 154022.4424.

The thing is, when i go o "configure speakers" and play the test, all is working but......the RR speaker is playing on the LR speaker !

This happen only with this setup. Other setups work great (like TV to soundbar with HDMI with apps directly in the TV, all speakers works perfectly)

So my theory is : this is a driver issue ?

What is the solution please ?

Thank you,

Damien

Hello, bigbossfr:

Thank you for contacting the Intel Communities.

I would like to check some facts about your system, and gather some information.

1. Have you tested this with the Realtek HD Audio Driver from the motherboard's webiste?

2. Also, have you tested the VGA driver from that website as well?

3. The 4424 are the latests, have you tested the beta?

4. Have you checked the properties of the playback devices present in your system?

5. It would be good to have the Intel® System Support Utility report of your computer to have a clearer overview of the enviroment we are dealing with.

Links:

- Motherboard downloads (select type and OS): http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5529# dl http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5529# dl

- Beta driver: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25957/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=88345 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25957/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=88345

How to check playback devices?

- Right click on the speaker found next to the time at your task bar

- Select Playback devices

- Go to properties of the device to be checked.

How to get the Intel® System Support Utility report?

-Access: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

-Download the utility

-Scan your system with the utility

-Export the report and attach it to your answer witht the advanced edditor option

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Esteban,

Thanks for the answer.

1) The Realtek driver is not for the HDMI output. This is for S/PDIF Out. Here i am using HDMI.

2) I have tried the driver from Gigabyte for the MB, same result.

3) I tried the beta, same result

4) Obviously yes. This is here that i am seeing that the speaker RR is playing on the speaker LR.

5) I have attached the report.

Thank you,

Damien

Correct I am aware that Intel® HD Graphics drivers handle HDMI and Realtek the on board audio; however, peers at the communities have experienced better performance/behavior from the system (related to audio) after installing these drivers, that would be the background of my recommendation.

I found a troubleshooting video from the manufacturer of your soundbar, please check it out.

Please let me know how it goes.

Hi,

I already have the Realtek driver with an optical S/PDIF Out on it. But the motherboard can output just 2.1 channels from the optical. It is why i choose to use HDMI to have the 5.1.

Like i told, they is no troubleshooting with the soundbar because when i use the soundbar directly in HDMI from the TV ---> soundbar, watching Netflix, i have 5.1 with rear speakers working perfectly.

When i replace the tv by the computer (always in hdmi), like COMPUTER ---> soundbar, the RR speaker plays on the RL speaker (and the RL on the RL, this one is good. But at the end i have 2 times RL).

On the soundbar, directly, there is something to check if all is working great : a sound is played on each speaker saying what speaker it is. This thing works also, obviously.

So this is, logically, a problem with the Intel driver. On Windows, when i play the sound to check speakers, the RR is wrong, just this one. I spend more than 5 hours trying everything (and i am tired), i am working with computer everyday (head of development of a big company...), so please focus on Intel driver, not Realtek driver/soundbar troubleshooting/others things.

Thank you,

Damien

Hi,

Rear speakers are "mono". They is no left or right, sound is playing at the same level on rear speakers.

Weird.

Hi Damien,

I see that you are using an http://ark.intel.com/products/88191/Intel-Core-i5-6600K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz Intel® Core™ i5-6600K Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz) and this processors comes with HD Graphics 530 so I would recommend that you run latest drivers: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/88345/Intel-HD-Graphics-530-for-6th-Generation-Intel-Core-Processors Drivers & Software.

If after trying the latest drivers you still have issues I would recommend that you contact the motherboard manufacturer, they may have specific drivers.

Thanks,

Ronny G
