Machine check exception on Broadwell quad-core with SpeedStep enabled

I have stuck on this problem for over one month.

I am so surprise that Intel doesn't solve this problem in Linux kernel before announce CPU.

even Intel claim broadwell is the same architecture with Haswell (Obviously , not )

Now, we only know that enable SpeedStep and P-State in Linux kernel will cause this problem.

Disable it might solve it, but we don't know other information.

community created a bug to discuss this problem , but seems no kernel team's guy to take care it.

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103351 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103351

Hope Intel can solve it soon.

I'm also affected by this. Ubuntu is unusable on my i5775 and hangs with MCE constantly.

I'm very surprised that intel has not addressed this yet. Usually intel support for Linux support is excellent..

Many others are reporting the same issue, e.g. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=201194 https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=201194

As I read the issue does not happen with all distributions. You may want to post the issue in the community or support site of your Linux* distro or here: https://01.org/ 01.org | Intel Open Source Technology Center

I'm also affected by this on Fedora 23.

joe_intel no, the reason why the person in that thread was reporting that Fedora worked okay is because they were using an older version. The latest version is most certainly having the same issue.
