AC 3160 very slow wifi connection

Hi all, bought a new laptop Lenovo Y70-70 3 days ago, and just can't get a decent internet connection. I have got the latest drivers downloaded from here, tried different settings (found on here and other forums)

I'm using windows 10, and have a BT home hub 5. I have even split the 2.4GHz and 5.2GHz on the hub and connected to them separately and I still only get an average of 8mb download, where as all other aptops and phones in the house get between 30mb and 37mb. At times I have reached 35mb download, but I can acually sit and watch it drop from 35mb to 8mb.... its driving me nuts now. Can anyone please help, I love the laptop but this silly problem is driving me crazy! If I cant get it sorted then the laptop will be returned, and all because of a wireless card

ceekay,

Have you checked with Lenovo* first to see if they have any updates that might help you resolve this issue? Intel recommends that you contact them first if the card was installed by factory. Here are some tips that might help you resolve this issue as well.

1 - Disable Bluetooth* if not necessary. The Bluetooth* radio uses the same antennas used for your Wi-Fi connection and this may impact your speeds.

2 - Disable the Power Saving Functions - turning off the option may prevent unexpected disconnection, sudden connection-speed-drop issues.

3 - Set the adapter to work at its maximum performance - Go to Control Panel >> Hardware and Sounds >> Power Option >> Set the High Performance and apply to default settings. Check the Change Plan Settings >> Change Advanced Power Settings >> Wireless Adapter Settings >> Power Saving Mode and from there, make sure both On Battery and Plugged in are set to Maximum Performance.

4 - make sure your router/Modem is running the latest firmware as well.

Hi thanks for the reply. I have tried most of suggestions above along with different settings, different drivers etc. I have tried the lenovo driver, but no difference in performance to the driver I can here. I have renamed the 5ghz connection from the router so I could connect to that directly with my laptop, and also made the 5ghz a/n rather than a/n/ac (on the router). This seemed to work for a couple of days and I was getting consistent 37mb download speeds, although something happened yesterday (not sure what) and now I'm back down to 8gb download. Every other device in the house works fine.

Can't figure out why this is happening... it seems very intermittent.

ceekay,

Are you using any kind of encryption?

Check Firewall and antivirus settings that might be impacting your speed.

If you prefer, as another option, you can contact your nearest Intel Contact Center for live troubleshooting. Here is the link: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/contactsupport Contact Support

I have tried disabling firewall and antivirus and its still the same. I have found that rebooting the router brings me back up to full speed for a while!

Its just so intermittent and so annoying! lol....

Sorry just to add, no encryption as far as I know... nothing I have added anyhow.

Thanks for the contact support link, I have a feeling I shall be using it soon.
