How to update the Firmware for D435

Title says most. I was researching this quite a bit but haven't come across any resources to do this.

This site (https://github.com/IntelRealSense/librealsense/releases Releases · IntelRealSense/librealsense · GitHub ) recommends certain firmware versions for releases of the SDK. I checked and it looks like our D435 does not meet the recommendation. Therefore the question how to update.

Regards,

Details for firmware updates are on page 25 of the camera's data sheet document.

https://software.intel.com/sites/default/files/Intel_RealSense_Depth_Cam_D400_Series_Datasheet.pdf https://software.intel.com/sites/default/files/Intel_RealSense_Depth_Cam_D400_Series_Datasheet.pdf

This section says that the device firmware update tool and firmware binary will be located at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

Thanks for the pointer. I have checked downloadcenter.intel.com and searched for anything "realsense", but I couldn't find any related firmware or updater software there. Is there a particular thing I have to search for?

Thanks

They will probably put the firmware update on there around the time the D-cameras go on sale around January 8. In the meantime, I recommend checking whether you need to update the driver at all.

Assuming you are using SDK 2.0, in the Viewer tool you can see your firmware version by looking at the settings of the camera you have plugged in.

My firmware is showing as 05.08.05.00. The latest librealsense recommends 05.08.14.0 or newer (https://github.com/IntelRealSense/librealsense/releases Releases · IntelRealSense/librealsense · GitHub ).

I researched the topic extensively but could not find any way to update the firmware without the mentioned update tool, unfortunately.

In an early October post on the Librealsense forums where someone else asked about updating the firmware of the pre-release camera, Dorodnic, one of the Librealsense leaders, said:

"The firmware update tool for the RS400 has not been published publicly yet. If you received the device from Intel representatives please contact them. I recommend asking for RS435 QS model replacement to ensure you get the most mature hardware".

So unless you buy a new engineering demo version of the camera from Intel, you may not be able to further update the firmware til the updated tool is released. Waiting may be the best option in case even the current pre-release demo camera doesn't have the latest .14 firmware installed.
