How to force downgrade driver and stop auto-updates?

Hello,

The latest Intel Iris driver was installed and has made my system unusable (it borks my external monitor setup and treats my QHD+ primary screen as 4 separate displays, the upper right quadrant being the part I actually see.. hours of confusion until I somehow accidentally moved my mouse pointer into view (no icons, etc.. ). The driver version being installed is 20.19.15.4531. I forced downgraded the graphics to 20.19.15.4300 and everything works fantastic, but within minutes/hours, the driver is upgraded in the background. I see some screen flashing, I lose my external monitor, and if I check the driver version it's back to 4531. Sigh. I've disabled Windows Driver Updates (running Win10), but I'm afraid I may have installed the Intel Driver Update Utility, but I have no idea how/what/where to access this and if there's a setting to stop the driver updates or if I need to uninstall something to maintain a stable system that's preventing me from doing actual work. 😕 I guess a more prudent question is: How can I figure out what is updating my driver (windows or intel update utility) and secondly, how to stop these automatic updates so I can continue to work?

The driver is auto updating because Windows is constantly checking for newer drivers but there are several steps you can try to prevent Windows keep updating drivers. Sigh.

I have already gone through and disabled the Windows update options that the link you provided go through. The driver still auto-updates.

The driver that borks my system is 4539, so while it might be the latest driver, this driver renders my system useless. Rolling back to 4300 fixes the issues 4539 creates. The problem is, *something* (and because I have disabled the driver updates in Windows makes me wonder if I installed the Intel Driver Update utility or whatever previously) continues to update the driver. I would like to know what tool I may have installed from Intel as part of a previous driver package that may update my drivers behind the scenes, sans windows 10 update system. I'm just trying to identify *what* is causing the auto-update issue.

The driver update utility will not run in the background unless you scan the computer to get new updates.

The graphics driver does not have such auto-update feature. This is the operating system. Please check with https://support.microsoft.com/en-us Microsoft* for other ways to disable this matter. Allan.
