I can't display higher than 1920x1080 on Surface Pro 4 i5-6300u. I am trying to display 2560x1080 which I can on my Surface Pro 3 i7-4650U. I am using the same Microsoft mini DP and cable for both tests. I have installed the most recent driver for the 520 adapter from Intel Hardware information is below.

Hello Cassaday,

I understand you are trying to get 2560x1080 screen resolution.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

I would like you to try installing the monitor driver. You can download it from this link http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-34UM58-P# manuals http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-34UM58-P# manuals

If issue persists I would like you to try reinstalling the graphics driver. Please download this driver version https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26669/eng/win64_154516.4627.zip https://downloadmirror.intel.com/26669/eng/win64_154516.4627.zip

Once the graphics driver has been downloaded on the keyboard press WinLogo key + r, then type in devmgmt.msc, double click on Display Adapters -> Intel HD Graphics -> Driver tab -> Uninstall -> Select the check box Delete the driver software for this device -> OK, restart the computer, and then reinstall the driver using the steps that are on this YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1KzoQDjMMY

Let me know if issue persists or not.

Regards,

Fred I appreciate the help. I already had the LG monitor driver installed. I did uninstall the current Intel display adapter and installed the one you mentioned in your post. I am getting no change in results. I can only get 1920x1080, I will say that just installing the graphic driver prevented facial login because the camera driver was uninstalled as well. Here is the screenshot to prove the driver versions are as you asked.

I am in the tech trade so if you want to do any advanced troubleshooting, I am sure I can support those types of requests.

Thank you.

Hello Cassaday,

Would you please try creating a custom resolution on the Intel Graphics Control Panel?

The following link will show you how to do it. Please use just the Basic Setup/Settings tab https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005540.html https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005540.html

Let me know if issue persists or not.

Fred, after a lot of fuss I finally got a custom resolution to work with the driver you referenced, but it would only accept a refresh rate of 50 Hertz and not 60. I received an "exceed" error when trying to save 60 Hertz. I know my monitor supports 60 so this is baffling. The other question is this, I tried custom resolution with the most recent driver and that did NOT work. Odd. I guess I should be happy with 50 but it still points to an issue with the driver, especially since I can get 2560x1080 60 Hertz on my Surface Pro 3. Does this mean Intel will at some point update the official release driver through Microsoft update?

Thank you for helping.

Lynne

Hello Cassaday,

I am sorry to hear you are still not being able to get the screen resolution you are trying to set.

The issue may not be related to the graphics driver itself. We have tested monitors with higher screen resolution, and we have had no problems. Our graphics controller supports up to 4096x2304@60Hz screen resolution through Displayport* so getting 2560x1080@60Hz should not be a problem.

All that I can think of would be some type of limitation the Surface Pro 4 might have. if possible try installing latest graphics driver Microsoft* has developed for your computer, and check if issue persists or not. You can download drivers from this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49498 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49498
