Graphics Driver Updates Breaking Windows Taskbar / Start Menu

Help!

I have a Dell XPS 8700 and through Windows Update it keeps installing Intel Graphics Driver (currently 20.19.15.4549)

Issue is, when it does, my start menu won't pop up anymore, nor can I right click anywhere on the menu bar (for example right clicking Word icon to see recent word documents), nor can I click the date/time to see the calendar, etc. As you can imagine it's pretty annoying.

To fix it, I have to go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall the Intel Graphics Driver. It's pretty annoying. I've tried disabling the update on Microsoft's side but that works until you release a new version. Then I have to re-disable the update and that's also a pain. (And Windows update is getting REALLY good at updating it after I uninstall. Like every night). If this can't be resolved I'll just have to look into turning off automatic updates.

I am using 3 monitors (1 HDMI, 1 DVI, and 1 DisplayPort) so I have Multidisplay enabled in the BIOS)

Here's the report from my Intel HD Graphics Control Panel:

Try the most recent driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26682/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-40-?product=81496 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.40]

Probably it requires http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005629.html Manually Install an Intel® Graphics Driver in Windows® 10 and Windows...

Hopefully it works better and Windows doesn't roll it back.

No Dice.

During installation it says "Computer does not meet minimum requirements for this software".

Thanks for the reply though!

I tried that earlier and it also has an error saying "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." Which is weird because it's directly from the Dell page for my computer....

I was able to update the driver to 20.19.15.4454 (Dells version) and the most recent Intel one and neither let the Start Menu work.

Hello mschmidtbauer,

I understand that after Windows* installs graphics driver update through Windows* Update start menu and right click do not work properly.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

I recommend installing Windows* Creators Update and then checking if that fixes the issues you are having. You can download Windows* Creators Update from this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/instantanswers/d4efb316-79f0-1aa1-9ef3-dcada78f3fa0/get-the-windows-10-creators-update https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/instantanswers/d4efb316-79f0-1aa1-9ef3-dcada78f3fa0/get-the-windows-10-creators-update
