Hello MeowJoe,
Intel provides the RealSense SDK 2.0 as a base for developers to innovate on top of. While it is possible to do visual odometry using the D415, Intel does not provide the middleware to do it. Hopefully someone in the community can chime in. This post. https://answers.ros.org/question/290640/visual-odometry-with-realsense-camera/, shows how it can be done using ROS.
Additionally you can post in the following community: https://github.com/IntelRealSense.
In the github community you will find more developers that could help you.
Best Regards,
Juan N.

Hello,
The mentioned method was just an exaple of how this has been achieved by other people, meaning that this could be achieved.
However Intel does not have an official guideline on how to do it.
You can try posting your question on the GitHub community where there are more developers and some of them may assist you.
Best Regards,
Juan N.
