My intel 600P SSD is currently using as my system drive. Can I still upgrade its firmware through Intel SSD toolbox?

Hello Staynam,

We would like to inform you that the Intel® Solid-State Drive Toolbox is able to perform the firmware upgrade, even if the drive is the bootable disk.

We have tested it here and it works just fine in Windows* 7 and Windows® 10.

Let us know if you need anything else.

Regards,

Hello,

Yes I confirm, the day before yesterday did this procedure.

This utility is launched from a boot CD/DVD or USB, therefore your operational sitema won't suffer.

Here it is only not sure that the frimware updating of this drive you something will change...

Thanks for your response.

So can I use the installed Toolbox to perform the upgrade under Windows 10?

Or do I need to install the toolbox into a Bootable USB or sth similar to perform the upgrade?

Btw, do I need to do any backup? I've no experience on backup a system drive.

Hi Staynam,

To answer your question: Yes. You can easily just install Intel® Solid-State Drive Toolbox in Windows® 10 and run the firmware upgrade.

We have tested it this way and it worked just fine.

Also, there is no need to back up your files as the upgrade won't erase any data. Intel does recommend to always back up your information in order to avoid data loss.

Let us know if you encounter any issues.
