[i7-8700K] XMP messes with Intel Display Audio?

So I recently purchased a i7 8700K and am running it on an Asus Strix Z370-F (latest BIOS 0430).

I have this issue where if I enable the default XMP for my G.Skill 32 GB DDR4 8X4 3200 MHz RAM,

I end up having choppy and bit crushed audio on my Predator XB271HU via the HDMI port. If I disable XMP, it seems to fix the issue.

Already ran memory tests from my BIOS and it found no issues.

Updated to the latest Nov 17 drivers, no change.

Latest Windows 10.

So to recap,

- 8700K with stock XMP

- no OC or other changes

= choppy audio performance, almost unusable.

Even my video freezes along with audio.

But nothing a restart cant fix.

My temps are fine btw, have a Kraken x62.

Any one else with similar issues?

mohitm: Thank you very much for contacting the Intel® communities. We are sorry to hear there is an audio problem.

In order to try to fix this problem we recommend to install the graphics driver provided by ASUS, look for VGA version 4758:

https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z370-F-GAMING/HelpDesk_Download/ https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z370-F-GAMING/HelpDesk_Download/

If the problem persists we can try to install driver version 4849:

Just to rule out a possible problem with one of the memory sticks, with the XMP profile enabled, could you please test the PC with just one stick of RAM with each RAM stick?

Any further questions, please let me know.

Hi Alberto,

Thanks for the response.

In order to try to fix this problem we recommend to install the graphics driver provided by ASUS, look for VGA version 4758:

Did that.

If the problem persists we can try to install driver version 4849:

Had this before I installed the aforementioned driver. As I mentioned in my previous post, I had the latest Nov 2017 Drivers.

Just to rule out a possible problem with one of the memory sticks, with the XMP profile enabled, could you please test the PC with just one stick of RAM with each RAM stick?

Did that too. No Dice .

Also stress tested each RAM a bit(both 8 each and 32GB scenario) before playing audio.

The issue is the same.

With XMP -Glitchy/Crushed Audio

Without XMP - Good Audio.

Here are videos so that you can see what I'm talking about.

As you can observe after audio starts glitching, video stops too after page refresh.

It's not an issue with my internet, i've verified that.

With XMP 32 GB:

With XMP 8 GB:

Without XMP:

Do you guys think it's an issue with my silicon?

Do I need to RMA it? Or do you think it's mother board related?

I'm ready to perform more tests if that'll help you zero in on the issue.

Hi mohitm: Thank you very much for providing that information and the videos. At this point it is hard to tell for sure if the problem is the processor or the board, it could be either.

We will do further research on this matter, in order for us to be able to do that, please provide the information requested on the link below:

Hi Alberto,

I don't see how some items in that list help as I have an Audio Issue.

Anyway find the required files attached along with the requisite form.

Provide a detailed description of the issue

mohitm: I just received an update on this matter and actually at this point the problem does not seem to be related to the graphics driver.

In this case, we suggest to contact ASUS for further diagnostics since enabling XMP still drives the CPU MCH beyond recommended specifications:

Any questions, please let me know.
