Recently had to replace my wireless router. I have laptops, one running windows 7, two running windows and two running windows xp. The oldest machine, a Compaq Presario V4000 running xp wireless connection keeps cutting in and out. More out then in. The other xp machine runs fine. Tried updating drivers did not work. Is there a different network adapter that I can download and install that will work with xp and the new router? Is this the right place to look or should I be looking somewhere else? Thanks

Hello Dharmshr,
The Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection is a legacy adapter that has reached End Of Interactive support, it supports only 802.11b and 802.11g, in the 2.4 GHz spectrum.
We advise you check with the http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm PC manufacturer Support to obtain the most recent drivers for your system. As second option, you can try the generic drivers fromhttps://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/3821/Intel-PRO-Wireless-2200BG-Network-Connection Intel Download Center, the last driver version released for this adapter on Windows XP* was 9.0.4.39.
Try applying the recommendation from the document: http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-034658.htm Quick Checks That Might Improve or Fix Connection Issues.
Also, refer to the documents available in thehttp://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/wireless/pro2200bg Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection Support.
