I have filtered this information at ark.intel.com and the first server processor quad core and HT would be family Intel® Xeon® Processor 3000 Series

http://ark.intel.com/search/advanced?s=t&FamilyText=Intel%C2%AE%20Xeon%C2%AE%20Processor%203000%20Sequence&CoreCountMin=4&CoreCountMax=4&HyperThreading=true ARK | Processor Feature Filter

Well I'll be darned!

Thank you greatly! I was trying to figure out to make use of the feature filter but either didn't understand or was too impatient to use it.

Unfortunately the information is a little too late as I've already decided to go with the 5500 sequence. It was the oldest one I found that supported quad core and hyperthreading and I've managed to find a great deal on a Dell C2100 chassis with two E5530's installed.

Many many thanks for your help! I will still look to see if the server options for those processors are more affordable but the deal I found on the C2100 is great.
