Having an issue getting the Optane app to run correctly. The title explains the problem. I'll list my relevant PC specs:

i7-8700k

Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 (Intel Optane Memory Ready)

EVGA GTX 1080 FTW

Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4 (4x8GB) @3200MHz

Intel Optane 900p 280GB PCIe SSD (Boot Drive + Drivers + Star Citizen)

3x Samsung 960 EVO M2 SSD's

Win 10 Pro

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hello Pagan_X2,

Thanks for being part of our communities.

The error message "Unsupported System Drive" at Intel® Optane™ Memory setup means the boot drive is not compatible with the memory.

Intel® Optane™ Memory is only compatible with SATA based boot drives for Windows* 10. In this case, you're booting from an Intel® Optane™ SSD 900p Series, which is an NVMe drive.

You can find more information on Intel® Optane™ Memory requirements and configurations here:

Please bear in mind that https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/optane-memory.html Intel® Optane™ Memory is used to accelerate your system. This is a different product fromhttps://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/memory-storage/solid-state-drives/gaming-enthusiast-ssds/optane-900p-series.html Intel® Optane™ SSD 900p Series which is used as an storage unit.

We hope this information will be useful for you. Let us know if we can help you with anything else.

I have a i7 8700k on a gigabyte z370 gaming 5.

I'm using a 512gb M.2 SSD NVMe pci-e as my windows drive.

So basically your saying if I'm using m.2 NVMe SSD for my boot drive, I cant use Optane for my mechanical drives?

Hello KIA_PETE,

Thanks for posting.

As we explained on a /thread/121059 different thread, booting from a SATA drive is the only supported configuration for Intel® Optane™ Memory.

If you're booting from an NVMe drive, you won't be able to accelerate your secondary mechanical drive(s) with Intel® Optane™ Memory.

Best regards,
