Failure at CPU load, testing stops. Well just ran it again for the fifth time and it passed !

Anyone have any ideas as to why all the failures and then a pass ? It is running a bit hot, will redo the paste and try it again.

spritz: Thank you very much for contacting the Intel® Processors communities. We will do our best to assist you with this scenario.

It is hard to tell exactly why sometimes the processor passed the test and sometimes it does not, it could be related to the processes running in the background. Please let us know the results of applying the thermal paste and running the tool again, please verify the temperatures reported.

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

As of a few minutes ago,I reapplied new paste to my 4770k CPU and new EVGA liquid cooler. Still running hot under no load other than this . Around 80 degr cent and above. It wasn't doing this until after the last windows update, however I did do a recovery back to before the update , no help .

spritz: Thank you very much for providing those results.

According to the specifications of the Intel® i7-4770K processor, the max T-case temperature is 72.72°C, so if the processor is reaching a higher temperature value, then it is getting overheated. Please make sure the fan is working properly and that there is no dust or a cable interfering with it and that you are using the proper memory RAM for the processor:

If the PC is throttling, getting freeze or if at some point it shuts down by itself, then the next thing to do, if you have the option of course, will be to test your processor on a different board or test your board with a different processor, if that option is not available, then you can always replace the unit:

If you are interested in the replacement option, please get in contact with Intel directly to confirm if the processor is eligible for warranty:
